About I year ago I started taking belly dance lessons. I absolutely love it and recommend everyone to try it. I know some people aren't keen on exercising but belly dance is so much fun, I assure you Appart from getting rid of those lovehandles and get firmer bottom and tighs you'll improve your coordination and it will make you feel more feminine and beautiful. After my first lesson practically every muscle hurt and I lost about 4 centimeters around my waist after about 10 lessons (and then the waistline isn't my problem area, I can imagain it will do wonders for those who tend get an "appel looking" shape when they put on weigt) so it's a lot more exercise than many people think.
I just wanted to give you an idea of what you can do if you want to start exercising but don't like running or going to the gym.
