Thumbs up L'Oreal Bare Naturale Mineral Foundation and Concealor

Product: L'Oreal Bare Naturale Mineral Foundation
Price: $13.72

Product: L'Oreal Bare Naturale Mineral Concealor
Price: $10.76

Available at drugstores, Ulta, and on-line.

My review:

This is the first mineral make-up that I have tried, so I cannot guaruntee that more expensive, "boutique" brands do not offer better results, but I would be hardpressed to see how.

L'Oreal BNMF evens out my skintone beautifully, adding to my complexion's natural glow (without shimmer), thereby solving the foundation dilemma that's been plaguing me for the past few years: coverage or radiance? As for its coverage, this product is advertised as being "light and buildable", but I do not have acne, so I can't say myself how well it conceals. I can say that, no matter how much I apply, it never looks cakey. It never even looks like I have make-up on! And unlike liquid or creme foundations, it does not run or build-up throughout the day. It does wear off a bit, though, so I need to reapply in the afternoon. L'Oreal BNMF has SPF 19 as well, which is important to me because I have very fair skin. It is so comforting to think that, every morning, I am doing one more thing to guard against wrinkles.

L'Oreal BNMC comes in powder form and offers intense coverage without looking cakey. I use it to cover the dark circles under my eyes and redness at the corners of my nose. Like BNMF it does not run or gather in the fine lines underneath the eyes throughout the day. My only qualm with this product is that it can give that "reverse racoon eyes" effect, so be sure to use it sparingly and blend, blend, blend. It also works really well as a highlighter. It has SPF 25.

Overall, I would say that these are two great products. If you want to experiment with mineral make-up without making a huge investment, I would recommend L'Oreal's Bare Naturale line as a great buy. I have heard that mineral make-up is not so great for older people because it accentuates wrinkles, but that remark was in reference to the Bare Minerals brand, and I do not know if it can be generalized to all mineral make-up.
