Why is perfume so expensive?

Why is perfume usually so expensive? Its essentially just a bottle of fragrenced liquid - but yet the more expensive brands can cost more than $60. Can anyone recommend any really nice perfumes at a RESONABLE price?

Yea i know perfumes can be so expensive. Its usually because they do, smell really nice. Also, they have a really good label behind them such as britney spears, Ralph Lauren, J,lo, and im sure all you guys no heaps more.

Chi-Chi have a brand of perfumes out that are $20 but smell delicious. Its called- Chi Chi Eau De Parfum spray and come in four delicious flavours.
Peach and Mango
Honey, Milk, and nut ( I own this one, good enough to eat)
Berry and passionfruit ( also own this one, fresh and alert)
Watermelon

If you look for body sprays and eau de toilette, then you can find similar scents for cheaper prices

The major reason is the cost involved with creating these scents, some of the most re-know scents have taken years of experimenting with different floral agent as well as Pheromone that are all the rave.
I watched one show on the making of channel and it sisters, and believe me this is an extraordinary process they go through just to get that one perfume that you can label your and yours alone.
Why I say that is perfume changes with your body chemistry, so one women can wear lets say Poison and another wearing the same brand smell like she stepped in something.
I believe that every women should have one very good perfume that she can call hers.

The body shop do really lovely scents for pretty reasonable prices. They also have a range of "mix and match" scents, where you can mix them together to find the right one for you.

They are really nice, and inexpensive compared to other perfumes. And they will last longer, and probably you will enjoy them more.

Yes I can agree with that to a point. My lets Channel lasts me over 2 years, why because you do not have to use very much and the scent lingers all day into night. So you save money in the long run. Instead of buy a wanna be that you have to apply more often and does not have a shelf life.
