I am 27 years old and I have never done a single facial to date. To day I went to my salon to get my hair blown dry and the beautician who attended to me advised me to do a facial. She said that I have white heads on my nose and black heads on the chin.
But I'm sort of scared to do a facial as I've never done it before. Could you please enlighten me on this 'facial' thing.....I have to say I'm clueless about it. I've always had (thank god) a good complexion so I never bothered about these. But I know as we gradually get older we need to take care of the skin in order to prevent it becoming dull. Appreciate any helpful advise and any comments on this issue.... |

Would you like to do a home facial or blow out on a professional done one?
Home facials you might have to put the effort in to do it yourself, but in the end you'll probably save money and maybe even come up with a better result. The steps to doing a home facial are- 1- Cleanse- Cleanse your skin thoroughly and remove all grime and dirt. 2- Exfoliate- Afterwoods rinse your face well as exfoliaters sometimes can be quite drying. 3- Steam- Fill your sink with Warm water, dip your flannel in and press to your face. Do this about 3-4 times. 4- Mask- Find a good mask in your local pharmicist, or beauty product store. If your face is dry use a Cream mask or hyrdating gel, or for oily use a clay mask. If yours is none of these, try a fruity mask for normal skin 5- Moisturise- Put on a smoothing moisturiser to finish your facial. What you need: Gentle cleanser Exfoliating scrub Warm water & a washcloth Clay-based, cream facial mask or a fruity one. (based on skin type) Basic moisturizer. Look at this websight- http://beauty.about.com/od/skinflaws/a/facemasks.htm to make your own homemade face mask. For a professional one a beauty store that waxes or does nails or things like that would have one. They range from about $60- $200. Remember, not to spend too much on them, because if you want to start having them once a month it would be quite pricey. They would do all the things above on your home one, but maybe pick the blackheads and white heads. Hope you in the end have a good facial!

Lol yea, what a nice way to assure she gets more customers
.I tried one of these home facial things, it was pretty nice. Although everyone always gets tempted by the professional ones, because you dont have to do anything but, pay the money!

Yeah, this wasn't the hairdresser who does my hair usually, she had gone on vacation so I went to this new lady. She made sure she gave me her contact details with name and everything, I think she's a good sales person..lol
I'll be doing a home facial thing (thanks to jemma13).... |

instead of picking your blackheads and whiteheads, go pick up a blackhead and whitehead extractor. It has loops to extract the blemishes that apply even pressure so you can minimize the damage and scarring you would have done otherwise with your fingers. Tweezerman makes one, and you can also pick one up from Sephora. Sephora also carries an extractor with a lancer, which, if you've got pustules, might be a good idea. They're the tools that facialists use when you get a facial with extractions.
