Default New User has strange combination Skin

I am A woman in her late 30's and I have started occaisionally breaking out in acne and oily skin that I have not seen since High School, my diet has remained the same although my friend's say, it's probably something I have become alergic too. Most acne products I have used although very good have dried out my skin way too much
Has anyone had a similar problem, any advice would be helpfull.

I think a lot of women go through this problem because of hormonal fluctuations and stress, which can take a toll on the skin.

The best thing to do is to use a cleanser that's extra mild and made for combination skin. http://www.bewellstaywell.com/skin_care.htm http://www.jason-natural.com/products/oily_skin.php

Limiting refined sugar in your diet is helpful too (candy, soda, alcohol, bread, etc..). Too much sugar can definitely cause problems like acne, redness and inflamation.

White and green tea is very good for your skin also. It flushes out toxins and other impurities.

As well as the great advice above, you might want to try and make sure that you take in enough water during the day. (I think the amount is eight 8-ounze glasses of water a day. Please, anyone, correct me if I am wrong) I find that if I do not drink enough water I will really notice it in my skin. It keeps the acne down to a manageable level no matter what is going on. Also take a look at how much sleep you are getting. Has the amount of time you sleep at night changed? I find that this also affects my skin quality. I know in North America they say that most adults are sleep deprived. I think that you are supposed to get 8 hours of sleep a night. This is very hard for me, but when I do, it has a great benefit for skin and attitude. I have found that, as I am aging, these two habits really make a difference.

Try taking evening primrose oil everday. It is meant to help keep the skin looking good. Also, as ocean said, drink 8 glasses of water today. Try and take some timeout whever you can to get rid of stress you may have.

Yup, 38 here and just as oily as I was at 18!

I like Aveeno's products, my favorite being the Ultra Calming Foaming Cleanser. It's very mild so it doesn't aggrivate sensitive skin, but it cleans well and doesn't leave any oily residue (which will cause my skin to break out within hours!)

yes, foaming washes are very good, as they remove oil without drying.

Thank you for the tips, I have tried Aveeno and it seemed a bit weak, a friend of mine reccomended I try elise anti blemish drying lotion at
www.elise7.com she swears by it, has anyone tried it? I hear its good for small areas and does the job without drying out and flaking the skin on local outbreaks.

I've tried something similiar - Bendi drying lotion. It worked really well. So that could be good for you.

Just be careful with what you use, you dont want your skin to become more irritated or even break out more. Use a moisturiser made for acne- and keep your skin care routine up!
