Default Pigmentation on face

Hi everyone,

I just found this website as I was looking at making my own products.

I do have a question.....

Does anyone know any good tricks to get rid of pigmentation on the face. It came when I was pregnant with my son, he is now 1 and it hasnt faded. My dr. said there isnt anything i can do.

I will try anything

Thanks in advance for your tips.

It may help to use a lightening gel or cream.

Chloasma, or pregnancy mask, is a darkening of the skin on the face. It is triggered by sun exposure and hormonal changes and it occurs in 70% of pregant women.

"The best thing to do is wait. Chloasma often goes away a few months after your pregnancy is over. In the meantime, avoid using any facial cleansers, skin creams, or makeup that irritate your skin -- they can make chloasma worse. And, of course, stay out of the sun.

If the dark patches don't fade a few months after your pregnancy, you can try over-the-counter bleaching creams containing low doses of hydroquinone. (These work best if the darker pigmentation is a mild form, limited to the top layers of skin cells.) The creams don't actually bleach your skin, but rather prevent melanocytes from overproducing pigment. It takes several months of using the creams to notice an improvement."

I got this information from this website.http://healthresources.caremark.com/topic/chloasma

They also have reccomendations of what to do if it still does not go away, as they say "Bringing Out The Big Guns". I have also seen on other boards that some women have said that it took 2 1/2 years for it to disappear. They were breast feeding for two years. I think in some women it will stick around longer especially if they are breast feeding because your homone levels are still not normal when you are doing this.

I hope this helps you.

Please read about the dangers of skin bleaching/lightening creams with hydroquinone.

Aveeno's "Positively Radiant" line of products are made with soy. They are supposed to be good for evening out skin tone.

Dr Leslie Baumann has a really good book called "The Skin Type Solution" that addresses this issue as well as many, many others. I think it's one of the best skin care books I've ever read. Aveeno's Positively Radiant is one of the lines reccommended for skin discoloration in her book.

Hi goddess I have personally not used these products only posted the article on the dangers of hydroquinone. I have hyperpigmentation as well due to pregnancies and I am using a product called epidermxII which is a microdermasion treatment. If you are interested you can read about it here:
http://www.essentialdayspa.com/forum....php?tid=11576

But I wouldn't mind trying the civant skincare products, they really look interesting. HTH

Just found this site and this one has more info and before and after pics:

Thanks everyone for their posts.....I had a browse at the websites and they were a great help. I live in Australia, I need to search around for the products that were mentioned.

If I find a product that really helps I will post it on the website.

Thanks again

I also suffer from the dreaded mask of pregnancy. My little boy is almost 2 and it's still there! I tried Neostrata's skin lightening cream which helped some but it has never gone away completely. Also, I've found out that if I get any bit of sun on my face(even with sunscreen) my hyperpigmentation is back in full force. So I can kiss the months of using the fading cream goodbye.
