Yes it does have a bleaching effect on skin. It's very strong and can cause irritation.
I remember using the Oxy pads when I was younger. They didn't help at all, just burned and turned my face red. I'm sure the products have improved since then. Maybe this spot treatment will help you. Retin-A is the best acne treatment I've used, and it wasn't as irritating (for me at least) as the over-the-counter products.

I agree with Lynnlee.
Also, with acne treatment, doc;s advice to stop for a day or two when skin starts looking red etc, giving time for the acne scars along with dead skin to go away.

I swear by benzoyl peroxide cream for my skin, I have been using it for over 6 months now, and I haven't noticed a decrease in effectiveness. It does bleach skin, but not noticeably. You need to be more careful about using towels and pillowcases and such, as all of mine are bleaced now!!

from my doctor, but if your skin is quite bad, then you should go to your GP, because they will know what is best for your skin type

I think Benzoyl Peroxide is the most effective topical disinfectant lotion ever made for acne and it does not lose it's effectiveness over time -it just keeps disinfecting! I have had acne since I was 11 years old and now I am in my thirties and the only thing that ever worked is using benzoly peroxide with beta hydroxy acid for exfoliation. I look at these two products and wonder "where have you been all my life"?????????....and I am a person who has tried and been on EVERYTHING but Accutane. |

![]() Yep, I am so thankful I found Benzoyl Peroxide when I did! Lord knows where my skin (and my confidence) would be if I didnt use it! |

OH my god you guys are too funny...remember it's my first day so I'm still checking things out. Acne? Benzoyl Peroxide? Hello kid stuff...I wouldn't put something that you can buy at a drugstore on your face and expect it to work wonders but that's just me. Try MD Skincare they have 2 new products out for acne...it's um...All-Over Blemish Solution & Correct & Perfect Spot Treatment. Pricey yes but they work. I swear by their peel.
