Hey guys. I wanted to explain my story to you all and ask you what I could possibly do to help my face. I have been fighting an uphill battle with acne and oily skin for most of my life. I am a true redhead, prone to skin problems even when the best care is given. I do admit I am a makeup fene, but no matter how many times I try and clean my face, the acne still remains. I would like to tell you all how I care for my face, and maybe you can find better products for me to use, I am desperate for help.
1. I always use baby oil to wash off my makeup at the end of the day rather than using a makeup remover. 2. I wash my face thoroughly with body scrubs or some antibacterial soap in hot water only. 3. I put alcohol or hydrogen peroxide on my face to dry up any acne that is there. 4. I put lotion on my face to replace the moisture I lost that day. Hopefully this cleaning regiment for my face is the cause for my acne, because I can truly find nothing else in my life that explains the reason for this. Another question I have for you all is if my acne continues to stay on my face, what are some really good cleansers and acne medications out today? I use Clean&Clear Maximum Strength Persa-Gel 10, and Clearasil Tinted Acne Treatment Cream and I have been wearing it both night and day for about 6 days now and I have not seen any results. I have heard rumors about St. Ives scrub for being the best at exfoliation. Should I pick some up? Im so lost! Thank you all for reading this post and helping me, my face appreciates your help! Thanks again!

This is not my answer to your issue, but I like to comment on how you care for your face. I think the first 3 steps you've mentioned are a little too harsh considering the fact that you have oily skin. No matter how mild people say baby oil is, I can never rub baby oil on my skin as I get pimples immediately afterwards. "Thoroughly washing your face with body scrubs" is queationable too for two reasons. (1) while you have acne (2) They are meant to be used on your body and not your face
"Using alcohol on your face" directly could be extremely harsh imo, even though I'm not a dermatologist. Again, I know that this isn't the answer you want, but don't ruin your complexion/face by taking matters to your own hands at the age of 18. Please visit a dermatologist and TREAT your acne and I'm sure you'll see better results and for the mean time give your skin some rest for a while and see whether the condition improves. Your eating habits will also have to be looked at as too oily food and chocolates etc and smoking and drinking (if you do) can also damage skin. Remember to drink lots of water too...

Yes to wonder you are having problems, your way to harsh with you skin, your stripping your skin and the reaction for the skin is always to try to replenish the moisture stripped.
= Start my going to see a derm, or if you can't do that go to the different counters of the bigger stores (skin care) and see what they offer. They should offer you a three or 4 step program which would consist of a cleansing product, a toner, a moisturize and some have products that will help with blemish products. Almay right now has a nice one and so does Vichy. Quit using baby oil for the eye make up removal, go and purchase and oil free makeup remover for eyes. - Watch you diet, watch the makeup you use again should be oil free, eat right, drinks lots of water. Exercise. Hope some of this helps.

This method has saved my daughter's face and I also use it regularly, 4-5 times a week, the rest of the time washing my face with water only.
After you've read the above. Contrary to belief, oil does not clog pores, dirt clogs pores and steaming the gentle natural light oils on your face helps soften that dirt and bring it (blackheads/whiteheads) to the surface. Then by splashing cold water afterwards, this allows the pores to shrink and close. I use a mixture of 50/50 virgin olive oil and sweet almond oil. Castor oil is very cleansing and dries my face out, but is supposed to be good for people with acne. This cleansing method requires nothing else, not even toner/astringent. It takes a week or so before you start noticing the blackheads oozing out on their own. This freaked me out. But I can honestly say I have the cleanest nose (no blackheads) of anyone I know. And the rest of my skin is soft and smooth, the pores have definitely shrunk. That's pretty good for an old woman. ![]() |

I would use a mix of 60% olive oil and 40% of either grapeseed oil, avocado oil or emu oil. Here's a list of things that are rated by whether they are ok for face , and their level of irritancy. It's called INGREDIENTS THAT CAUSE OR EXACERBATE ACNE Definitely do NOT use coconut oil of any kind on your face if you have acne. I believe it's the only oil that blocks pores. Now, notice some things on this list, say Mineral oil, is not really good for your skin. BUT it won't cause or make your acne angry. It WILL shut off all the moisture you try to give your skin, though, and is very difficult to remove. It is not water soluble. Also be very gentle when removing the oils from your face. Folks find this hard to believe, but these oils rinse easily with water. If you have steamed at least once during the process, the oils will be removed with very gentle wiping with your wet cloth. Follow that with a cold water rinse or splash and you shouldn't even need toner/astringent. I used Dove soap about 2 months ago (been using it all my life) and my face felt dry and tight, so right back to OCM I went, with only warm water washes inbetween. If you want to use a mild moisturizer, especially before applying make up, try 2-3 drops of oil in your palm, mixed with a small dab of clear aloe gel. This makes applying the oil more evenly and you'll have a baby butt smooth face. Plus, it won't clog your pores or hurt your acne. |

Oh honey - why are you putting baby oil on your skin? And body products? NO, NO, NO! Who told you to do that? We are going to fix you up. First of all you need a gentle cleanser that is formulated for use on the face. Secondly, you need a true acne medication. Try this...http://www.mdskincare.com/productdet...m?SKU=MD031521

All of these suggestions area excellent. You don't say what kind of acne you have. Do you have problems all over you face? ( I can relate) Do you have problems in certain areas? Such as your chin, nose forehead? Certains types of acne should be seen by a dermatologist. Some other suggestions could be, wash your face in lukewarm water. Hot water can exacertbate skin problems. Alchohol and HP. are too drying for the rest of your face. Good luck!

Most of my breakouts occur around my chin and hairline. I rarely get them anywhere else. Also, my breakouts are much more severe during menstural cycles but they dont clear up right afterwards. I have bought OXY Acne Treatment lotion since this post and it seems to be working with washing my face three times a day. I have also found that just using my hands to wash my face instead of a washcloth increases the softness on my face, Is this a good thing to keep doing? But my acne has seemed to decrease over the last few days..We shall see what happens!
