Default Astringent & Cleansing Milk

Can some one tell me the difference between Astringent and Cleansing Milk. Can they be interchanged for use?

cleansing milk is a kind of lotion or cream that is used to clean u're face from oil n dirt, first u massage u're face with cleansing milk, then remove it with cotton wool. After that u can use astringent to remove the trace of cleansing milk u wear n to tighten u're pore.

I have very fine bumps around my nose area and chin that sometimes have this white stuff sticking out of them and i cant get rid of them. I use this product i just heard of called Clear Essence for women of color, I am a light skin black women, but i do not use an astringent thinking it would dry my skin, i think i have normal skin but oily in the T zone. How do I get rid of this. I also have numerous blackheads on the area between my eyesbrows! HELP!!!!!

It sounds to me like you have combination skin. Normal on your cheeks and oily in your t-zone. You also have a combo of blackheads and whiteheads. If you can, it would be best to get a consultation at a reputable salon and spa, derm, or even a make-up counter that sells skincare products. Basically, you need to cleanse and moisturize. Get a gentle daily cleanser and an oil-free moisturizer. I use two, one for day with spf and one at night, but that's your preference. You'll also need to regularly exfoliate your skin, 2-3 times a week max. Get a scrub that isn't going to be too harsh on your face and that doesn't have big sand like grains. Astringent isn't really neccessary, but if you would like, you could use a mild one on your oily t-zone. If the skin gets irritated, discontinue use or cut back to every other day. Little things like bacteria on the phone reciever and pillow cases can trigger acne too. So be sure to clean your phone with astringent (or rubbing alcohol) and change your pillow cases at least once a week. Keep hands off! Not picking, popping, or sqeezing, as that results in permenant scars. Try to eat a well-balanced diet, drink plenty of water, and get at least 8 hours of sleep a night. Good luck. << did we get new smileys? I didn't know we had such a big collection..they're all so cute!!

Thank you for the advice, I work so much i dont have time to get professional opinion. I did however invest in a earpiece for work that only use and iI'm trying to drink more water, the rest is out of the question for right now. I will however get a scrub. Thanks!

Well manjusha!

Astringents are actually agents.... dry up excess oil on the skin....reducing its ability to absorb water.....tightening it temporarily or closing skin pores. They r usually used in products for oily skin.

They can b mild as well as harsh...

1- Lemon and alchohal are harsh astringents.
2- Rose water is a mild one.
3- Basil is an ideal toner for oily or combination skin.

Facial cleansers are remove oils and other fatty secretions from the sebaceous glands in the skin...without ripping ur skin off ur natural oils...also remove dirt, grime....etc.

Good homemade cleansers are
1- Yogurt
2- Honey
3- Jojoba oil
4- Fresh Mint water

Hope i helped u to understand these terms....
