Blackheads are best left treated cleansed and untouched, if you remove at home with an extractor or your fingernails the pores around it will expand and the problem will be worse because your more likely to get infected and grow more.
So make a paste with baking soda and water apply and leave till dries and reapply till dries and keep on applying for 15 minutes. It dries out quick that why you should reapply
another tip is to warm honey and apply it, after it loosen scrub it off with epsom salt and lemon juice. it burns but its great!
hope you cure soon

Default exfoliate gently!

Blackheads are dirt and residue that's stuck in your pores and it needs to be "disolved" off of the skin unless you want to risk tearing it up or irritating it with pinching and harsh medications. Using a gentle exfoliant like Obagi Nu Derm Exfoderm cleanser which will clear blackeads out of the skin slowly and efficiently.

Baking soda and water makes a good mask/scrub. Also using a 3% BHA solution will help lossen the blackheads and get rid of them. I had some blackheads make their way to the surface after a peel and I used the BHA for 2 weeks and they were all gone after that and they've stayed gone.

BHA is very gentle (doesn't sting) and you apply it to the "problem" areas and leave on for 8 minutes then rinse. I did that every day for two weeks.

hey Apple...great advice....are you a Paula Begoun fan like I am? BHA or Salicylic acid as it's also known is amazing and it works, especially if used once in a while with the baking soda paste-so I second your advice!

Also a clay mask works wonders if used once a week on the problem area.

Yes I do read a lot of Paula's articles and newsletter. I dont completely agree with everything she says but she's very knowledgable and I enjoy reading her stuff. We're actually having a "debate" on one of her articles in another forum. She doesn't believe in "purging" and well, I do.

you mean her recent article about the skin purging out toxins-I have her articles come to me bi-weekly and I think that was the most recent one-?
I really respect her outlook on the whole cosmetics industry although the sales people behind the counters surely don't like her a whole lot

Yeah, I believe that's the one. I get her newsletters sent to me too. What I disagree about is her saying a pimple is not laying under the skin before it comes to the surface, which I've read and believe otherwise.

Anyway, I do really like her and agree with most of what she has to say but on some things I just think differently. Not that she's wrong or I'm wrong, I just dont agree with everything she has to say. Oh, the other is her thoughts on Mineral Makeup, I know she doesn't like that either and I happen to love Mineral Makeup.
