I recently move to a colder state and have noticed a big difference with my skin, it looks dull and feels dry with the cold weather. I cleanse, tone and moisturise morning and night and apply a weekly mask. Does anyone have any skin advice for the colder months and any additional things which I could be doing for my skin to make it look a little better.

Hi,
Always drink plenty of water. Use sunblock even in winter. Ultraviolet rays are still intense and even when cloudy they still penetrate. Exfoliate because it gets rid of the dead skin. Exfoliate before you moisturise. I used to have VERY sensitive skin on my face, and I would cleanse, tone.. Use a lot of moisturiser and really it didn't make much difference. There I was spending all this money trying to make my skin smooth and healthy and it really didn't work. All I do is drink plenty of water, wear sunblock every day and use a rosewater mist on my face morning and night. |

Try putting your moisturizer on while your skin is still damp. Also get a skin cream that has a barrier in it, what I mean by that is something that leaves a barrier of moisture on your skin to protect from the element of the weather. You can usually get these with a SPF built in.

Try using hydrating products in the winter. I live in Chicago and am post hysterectomy...so I am DRY AND SENSITIVE :P
This is a mask that I SWEAR by. I have my brides do it before their wedding days too... I love the bioelements Gel Therapy and Cream Therapy Combined. Mix them equally and apply to your skin: http://www.bioelements.com/jsp/product.jsp?id=1081 and http://www.bioelements.com/jsp/product.jsp?id=1941 Your face will feel like a baby behind. You can plug in your zip code and it will tell you the nearest Spa/Salon that carries Bio Elements. For their moisturizer the Absoulte Moisture and if you are SUPER SUPER dry the Crucial Moisture http://www.bioelements.com/jsp/product.jsp?id=1048 Another product from Bio I use is the Jet Travel and The Recovery Serum: You would use the Recovery Serum as the final step before makeup.. http://www.bioelements.com/jsp/product.jsp?id=435 I think the Jet Travel is now called Moisture x 10 http://www.bioelements.com/jsp/product.jsp?id=1082 I am a licensed Esthetician and I Bioelements. Sheesh I sound like a walking infomercial. If you do find a spa that carries them, the nice thing about Bioelements is they can CUSTOM BLEND certain things into your moisturizer and masks. They are only used by Estheticians and I have seen such wonderful changes in all of my clients skin! Good luck! PM me if you have any other questions. I am originally from the south and moved to Chicago 9 years ago and my skin completely changed from oily to dry and sensitive! ![]() Also try sleeping with a humidifier in your room too! xoxoxo |

The gals are right: Continue your moisture routine, use a sunblock even in the winter, and hydrate yourself by drinking water. I would also recommend getting some kind of serum (I use hyaluronic acid) that helps the ingredients of your products penetrate the skin. Also, maybe buy yourself a thicker moisturizer! Maybe your old stuff doesn't cut it!

drink one or two (depending on how much your bladder can hold) glasses of water before you go to bed. I used to do this, and when I stopped I noticed that my skin got really dry and dull.
