Hi all, I found so many threads on what false eyelashes are, what to use, and how to put them on. BUT, does anyone know how to take care of them AFTER you put them on?
I ask because I had cluster eyelash extensions attached at the salon over the weekend. (I believe they were attached to my eyelids with spirit gum, since it smelled like Mighty Bond and the glue used for sticking pieces of rubber sheets/craft foam together. Not the best, I know. X_x) They're supposed to last for a month according to the stylist at the salon, but I may be going to the beach over the weekend and I'm worried I'll lose them to the sea. :S Thanks |

The first step in cleaning falsies, is to peel off the latex adhesive. Just grab an edge with your fingers and slowly lift (peel) it away. Next, place the lashes on a few layers of paper towel. Take a small old/used toothbrush that has fine bristles and dip it into a shallow dish containing water-proof eye make-up remover, and gently rub the brush on the lashes from root to tip (one direction) several times until they are cleaned of mascara. (NOT back and forth). Take some toner on a cotton pad or tissue, and blot the lashes. Next, take a pencil or a make-up brush, and roll the lash around the pencil or handle of the brush. This will round out the shape of the lash. Next you place the lashes back into it's original packaging along the curve, this will maintain the shape of the lashes. If you need to curl them, (false lashes are permanantly curled), curl them as usual while wearing them. Ok. the bonded lashes. Highly unlikely the tech at the salon used spirit gum, since it's totally dangerous and unsafe to use it near the eyes. If she did... Well, glad that you're not blind, both of you took a BIG risk there. Anyways... If you want to waterproof your lashes, take some Duo Adhesive, (I recommend the black coloured Duo) and using a pointed Orange Stick, apply the Duo like you would a liquid eyeliner along the root end strip. This will help create a waterproof barrier. HTH ![]()
