Default High Blood Pressure!

What is the correct figure for blood pressure? Mine is 140/90 and my doctor keeps checking it every time I see him. He says it is alright, but this constant checking worries me.

I don't know what the normal practice is where you are, but here (in the US) the doctor (usually the nurse, actually) always checks your vital signs at the beginning of every appointment, even if it's just a follow-up from a previous appointment. They check your weight, heart rate, blood oxygen level, and blood pressure. It's just to make sure everything is still within the normal range, since anything out of the ordinary could indicate a problem somewhere, and that would need to be looked into. It's just a preventative measure.

The standard normal range is 120/80 mine is always lower, but you should really keep an eye on it and it's sound like your doctor is doing just that

the 140/90 is a little high. but since your doctor checks you everytime you go to see him, won't be concerned unless it goes higher. most people get high readings at the doctors office. it is called white coat syndrome. i can take my blood pressure at home and it is fine, but as soon as i go in to see my doc it goes way up! he usually takes mine twice. he will take it again after i have sat and talked to hiim awhile. i really love my doctor. he is just a regualr general practiioner but he is super smart and keeps up with all the new stuff happening in medicine. trust your doctor. if he gets worried he will just prescribe something to help lower your blood pressure. try to stay away from caffeine, and smoking. don't worry about your bp. your doctor seems on top of it.
