Hi,Sorry if I sound stupid but what exactly is microdermabrasion. I just found this new one from Avon (to do at home) and was wondering if it can be used on any part of the body other than your face (maybe hands?). My hands are terribly sunburnt. Will this microderma..... knock of a layer of skin & give it back its original colour. Tks. |

I would not use it on skin that has just been damaged your skin has been through enough with the burn. Keep you hands moisturized, where gloves at night with a heavy duty hand cream (cotton or gloves made for this). I would suggest using the product on your face and neck. Get an exfolate gel or lotion for the body.
and to answer your orginal question this is to get rid of dead skin cells promote healthy skin and to help with skin that has some sun damage by removing old cells so new cells can take their place. Sorry I am not very good at explaining this am I. You will find your skin softer and lines soften with use. and not just one time. I use it once a week when my skin is looking good. Hope this helps

Microdermabrasion home kits are pretty much really advanced exfoliation..removal of dead skin cells with little microbeads. However u can go to a dermatologist and the procedure is quite diff. For ur sunburn you should look for a hand cream containing a high percentage of Aloe Vera...I wouldn't go for 100% aloe vera Gel....when it dries it gets VERY sticky. So maybe try an Aloe Vera Oil or balm?
Hope i helped! |

Home microdermabrasion kits are fine, but the best way to have microdermabrasion performed (especially if you've never done it before) is to go to a licensed aesthetician or a dermatologist. He/she can analyze your skin and determine is this treatment will work for you. Microdermabrasion works the same as a "peel" except that it uses mechanical means of removing the top layers of the dermis, revealing young, smooth skin. The MOST IMPORTANT thing to remember with peels and dermabrasion is to protect your new skin with a GOOD sunscreen, minimum 30 SPF!

Tks. for the replies guys. I think I'll wait awhile before using the micro..... on my face coz its very hot here & I don't want to get sunburnt. For my hands, I'm off to get a cream with aloe gel. |
