Default Red Dots

I have little red dots on most places of my body but they are mainly on my arms. They are about the size of a tiny pixel dot. They aren't bumpy or raised like a spot. They are just coloured into my skin...like a blood red pigment. Isn't uncomfortable and not sore. I've had them for years! You can't notice them only if you're right beside me and inspecting. I have very fair pale skin too. Does anyone know what they are?

I have them too. Do they sort of make your skin look blotchy? I have freckles on my arms too, and pale skin, but you can definitely notice the red.

They are Freckles.

Freckles are flat, circular spots that typically range in the size of the head of a nail. The spots develop randomly on the skin, especially after repeated exposure to sunlight and particularly in persons of fair complexion. Freckles vary in color -- they may be red, yellow, tan, light-brown, brown, or black -- but they are always darker than the skin around them since they are due to deposits of the dark pigment called melanin. They are rare on infants, but more common on children aged 5 to 12 than on adults.

I have one on the back of my right arm. I've had it since I was 19.

They're small blood vessel collections called angiomas. It's a natural occurrence.

A dermatologist can give you better insight about it and possibly prescribe some sort of fading cream. Not sure though.

It could be keratosis pilaris, a skin condition that's apparently very common. My dermatologist told me about it when I asked what the red dots on my arms were. Although I don't have the bumps often associated with "KP", I do have the red dots all over and especially on my arms and legs...and my derm told me that what I had was keratosis pilaris. It's also described by the term "chicken skin" because of the way it makes your skin look.

You can look at the pictures on this website and see if it looks like what you have. http://www.helpforkp.com/keratosis_p..._pictures.html

In the FAQ section there's a Q&A with Dermadoctor and there's a question that says:

Quote:
Q. HELP!!! I have small patches of red dots on the back of my upper arms and the top of my thighs. They are not raised and it doesnīt look like a rash. Iīve had it for years. Is there anything I can use to treat these areas?

A. While I canīt diagnose a condition via the internet, many times people prone to a condition called Keratosis Pilaris also have this pinpoint red coloration of their hair follicles, even if they are using their skin care products. Please check with your physician to determine what condition you are experiencing. You may want to read my website newsletter on Keratosis Pilaris. We have developed a product specifically for Keratosis Pilaris called DERMAdoctor KP Duty Dermatologist Moisturizing Therapy For Dry Skin. It combines urea and glycolic acid in the right balance to effectively treat this condition. In addition, you should try our Dermawizard for Keratosis Pilaris which you will find very helpful.

All in all, it's probably a good idea to see a dermatologist about it if you want to be sure.

Hmm it dosen't look like any of those pictures....it's more of a dark red and isn't 3D or either patchy. some of them can look blotchy and when there is a couple of red dots bunched together.

Not sure what it could be then. Good luck on finding out though...and be sure to let us know if you do find out what it is.
