Basic Skin care
First step is to determine your skin type. There are no magic potions that can make your spots and pimples disappear overnight. There is no elixir of youth that can turn back the hands of the clock and give you back the firm, unlined skin of your youth. But there is a way by which you can rejuvinate your skin and bring it back to good health. Dermatologists, cosmetologists and beauty therapists all agree on the fact that taking regular care of skin is the only way of avoiding problems and delaying the ageing process. So cleanse, tone, moisturize and nourish your skin everyday. Within a week you will be amazed to see the results. The skin has tremendous powers of self-regeneration when properly cared for and it is never too late to start. Cleansing Whatever the texture or type of your skin, it requires thorough cleansing. If we could have a look at uncleaned skin through a magnifying glass, we would realise the absolute necessity of a proper cleansing routine. Before it is cleansed, the skin surface is covered by a film of dirt, stale sweat, oil deposits, stale make-up and other pollutants. All these are potent skin irritants. They not only upset the normal balance of the skin, but also hamper its natural functions. Cleanse your skin, according to your skin type. Splash your face with water then massage with a gentle facial wash and work it up to a lather for about 30 seconds. Take the opportunity to lightly massage your skin, as this will boost the supply of blood to the surface of your skin - which means a rosier complexion. Rinse away with clear water untill every soapy trace has been removed from your skin. Then pat your skin with a soft towel to absorb residual water from the surface of your skin. Toning Toning is necessary for all skin types. It follows immediately after cleansing and helps to refresh the skin. A good way of toning the skin is to keep cotton wool pads soaking in a bowl of skin tonic in the refridgerator. After cleansing the skin, wipe with the skin toning pads and then pad the skin briskly. This stimulates the blood circulation to the surface. Gentle stroking movements can also be followed. Moisturizing The most important part of the skin care routine is moisturizing. Smooth your skin with moisturizing lotions. Dot onto your face, then massage in with your fingertips with light upwards strokes. This will leave a protective film on the skin, allowing make-up to be aeasily applied and ensuring there is a balanced moisture content. Nourishing Nourishing is a way of supplying emollients to the skin so that it can hold moisture better and performs its other functions. Use the nourishment cream with Vitamin A, which is of utmost importance to the skin helping to relieve dryness and maintain skin elasticity and the nourishing cream with Vitamin E (anti-oxidant) which helps in minimizing cross linking damage.

Oily Skin·
· It has open pores. · It will shine an hour or so after washing. · It may look oily on waking. · It has a tendency to spots and blackheads. · It is less susceptible to wrinkles than other skin types. 5-minute oily skin-care program…. Morning · Cleanse quickly, using a wipe-off cleanser for normal-to-oily skin or a soap-free cleansing bar Rinse very thoroughly. · Tone using a toner that should be diluted if it contains alcohol so that it is not too drying. Moisten your cotton wool with water. · Moisturize where needed using an oil-free or gel moisturizer. Evening · Remove eye make-up then cleanse as above but more thoroughly. · Apply moisturizer just where needed. Some Homemade Remedies n Recipes for Oily Skin Try a Tomato…… *** Make a puree of fresh tomatoes, apply to the skin. (It’s really cool. But I would suggest not using it if u r allergic to fruits and veggies, contain citric acid.) Toothpaste for Ur Face…… *** For oily skin, apply a thin layer of toothpaste and leave until dry. Once dry gently wash face with warm water. This temporarily dries out oily skin. (That’s in case, if u r in a hurry to attend a party.) Betonite Solution…… ***Mix the apricot oil (1 tsp) and the palmarosa (2 drops) together in small dish. Put the green clay (1 tb sp) in a small bowl. Add the apricot oil mixture and stir. Add just enough warm water to make a spread-able paste, and work the mixture thoroughly to incorporate all the ingredients. Immediately apply the mask to a cleansed face and rest for ten to fifteen mintues. The mask will tighten slightly as the water evaporates and may feel a little strange. Don't worry; it's just the mask doing its work. Finally, wash off the mask with warm water and apply a toner and moisturizer. Benefits: Green clay is also known as betonite, and is the most commonly used clay in the face masks. It has a slippery feel and can absorb large quantites of the water. This mask is used to draw out titties of water, excess sebum, toxins, and dirt from deep down the skin and is best suited to oily skin. Green clay stabilizes the production of sebum and deeply cleanses the skin. (I say, if u have oily skin, u can give a try to fuller’s earth too. And I say, if u have oily skin, U R LUCKY. Just give it a lil more attention, and it’s going to b a glorious part of Ur persona. Health looking, fresh, lovely skin just like a morning glory………) Camphor can help u….. Beat together 1 egg white, 1 tsp spirits of camphor, 1 heaping Tbsp skim milk powder and a scant drop of essential oil of mint. First apply a thin film of odorless castor oil to the skin, and then apply a thick layer of the egg white mask. Lie back for about 15 minutes. Wash off with warm water, and then rinse with an apple cider vinegar and water solution or witch hazel. Oils for Oily Skin……..Sounds Strange… EH ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? When mixing your own Oily skin remedies, there is a good selection of essential oils to choose from: · Cedarwood - good for acne conditions and oily skin · Clary Sage - aids excessive sebum (skins oil) production and helps reduce inflammation · Geranium - balancing effect on sebaceous (oil) glands · Lavender - powerful regenerative oil, antibiotic, antiseptic, and promote the prevention of scarring · Sandalwood - a very soothing and strengthening oil, contains antiseptic properties to help control bacteria, is excellent for acne, and works to reduce excessive sebum production · Tea Tree - powerful antibacterial and antiseptic, good for acne conditions · Ylang Ylang - helps balance sebum secretion, good for toning excessively oily skin. Other oils to blend with that are beneficial to oily skin are: bergamot, chamomile (for its anti-inflammatory properties), grapefruit (beneficial to congested skin), lemon, lemongrass, mandarin, petitgrain (good for oily hair too), and violet (will be more expensive, but good for oily skin). Grapeseed oil is excellent base oil, which is great for oily skin. Try mixing in some carrot oil, which has properties that aid scarring reduction, inflammation, and is rich in vitamins beneficial to the skin: A, B, C, D and E. You only need a small amount of carrot oil, so add it as part of your carrier oil (using too much over a long period can cause skin discoloration due to its natural carroty orange pigment Jojoba oil works wonders for oily skin - protects and moisturizes oily skin while it helps to balance sebum; it makes good base oil for combination skins too. Almond oil is the one I use. It suits ma face. It brings glow and shine. It has a bit whitening effect too that simply evens out Ur skin. This oil is amazing for the sensitive eye area too; just avoid applying it to close to the eyelashes Ugh……Help Ma Oily Nose 1 tsp of tomato pulp, 1 tsp of cucumber pulp, 1 tsp of strawberry pulp or 1 tsp of egg white, 2 drops of lemon juice: Apply this paste repeatedly.

Dry Skin
• It has a fine matter texture. • It may be on the sensitive side. • There are usually no open pores. • It is more prone to fine lines and wrinkles than other skin types. • It is more vulnerable to the effects of central heating and sunlight. • Very fair skin is often dry. 5-minute Dry Skin-Care Morning • Cleanse quickly using a wipe-off cleanser for dry skin. • Tone using alcohol-free toner on water-moistened cotton ball. • Hydrate with a moisturizer for dry skin. Preferably one containing a broad-spectrum sunscreen. Avoid and protect your eyes. Evening • Remove your eye make-up. • Cleanse as above. • Apply a night-cream. Home made Face mask for Dry Skin Apply natural mayonnaise, either homemade or bought from a natural foods store. Massage onto skin, leave on for 15-20 minutes, and rinse thoroughly with warm water. Warm the honey (1 large tsp) in a small bowl immersed in hot water until it becomes liquid. Put the ground almonds (1 tbsp) into another small bowl. Add the melted honey and mix well, adding a little warm water to obtain a spreadable consistency. Immediately apply the mask to a cleansed face and rest for ten to fifteen minutes. Finally, was off the mask with water and apply a toner and moisturizer. Benefits: The combination of honey and ground almonds makes this smell good enough to eat! Although it feels very sticky, and takes a lot of washing off, this nonetheless a wonderful face mask, and worth the effort. The honey and almond moisturizing face mask is particularly good for mature, sensitive, or dry skin, but is suitable for all skin types. Make a puree of 1 banana and 1 papaya, peach or avocado. Apply to skin. Leave on for at least 20 minutes then rinse with warm water, followed by a moisturizer of natural margarine or natural vegetable oil. Wonderful homemade mask for Dry skin Honey and egg face mask: One teaspoon olive oil, 1 egg yolk, one teaspoon honey, oatmeal (ground or you can also use infant oatmeal). Combine all ingredients in a small bowl, using enough oatmeal to make a paste. Smooth the paste all over your face. Leave on for 15 minutes and then rinse with tepid water. Pat dry. The honey locks in moisture from the egg and olive oil, and the oatmeal soothes and softens the skin. You will notice a nice and healthy glow. Banana Face Mask for dull and dry skin: Two medium sized bananas and honey (Optional). Mash the bananas. Add honey if desired. Smooth over the face and neck and leave on for 10 minutes. Then rinse off with cool water and pat dry with a clean dry towel. Your own homemade remedy Tips Massage with oil before going to bath make your skin younger.

Sensitive Skin
· Looks fragile and translucent. · It is generally dry. · It may have freckles. · It tends to become flushed blotchy and irritated in extremes of temperature or through using harsh cleansing products. · It may suffer from broken red veins dermatitis allergies. · 5-minute sensitive skin-care Program…….. Follow the program for dry skin. Special tips · Look for hypoallergenic products that are scent free. · Before trying a new product do a patch test. Rub a good amount on to your shoulder and leave it one overnight. If there is no sign of irritation, apply some to your neck and wait again. If there is no reaction, then the product will probably be safe to use on your face. · If you have sensitive skins do not use facial washes or soap; instead use a light, hypoallergenic cleansing lotion. Use a moisturizer to strengthen your skin and provide a barrier against irritants. Make sure you use a non-perfumed moisturizer so as not to irritate your skin. · Sensitive Skin Care - Homemade recipe for sensitive skin Honey Help….. Warm a small pot of honey in a double boiler, then test a small amount on your hand to make sure it's not too hot. When warm, apply the honey generously over your entire face. Leave the mask on for 15 minutes. Rinse thoroughly with warm, then cool water. Cool as Cucumber n Clay Mask… Mashed cucumber and yoghurt together, add clay powder to smooth the mixture. Leave the mask 10 minutes. Rinse thoroughly with lukewarm water. A cooling, soothing and toning mask. Skin Rash ….Orange yogurt mask: Sensitive and dry skin sometimes experiences severe rash. To cure this….here’s a cool and relaxing mask. Plus +++ if you are feeling sluggish, this is the perfect mask for you, as it’s like a pick me up only in 5 mins. The yogurt will cleanse the skin and the orange is full of vitamin C and AHA's. Ingredients - 1 tsp of plain yogurt and juice of 1/4th of an orange. Instructions - Stir to mix and then dip fingers into mixture and smooth onto face and neck. Leave on for 5 mins then wash off with warm water and pat dry. There is enough at home to pamper yourself!
