The soles of my feet are so hard and cracked. How do I get them soft and smoother? All suggestions appreciated.

soak your feet or take a bath, you can buy a pumice stone for use in the water, give them a good scrub. Try you feet well and use tons of a good foot softening cream, put on socks and leave over night.
For upkeep you can buy a Dr Schols foot callous remover and use every other day along with you foot cream. You should see results within the week, but you have to maintain this so you well have to keep your feet moisturized and dry.

after a good exfoliation like judi mentioned (with foot scrubs and a pumice stone), apply a whole bunch of vaseline to your feet on at night, then put socks that you can throw away over them while you sleep. in the morning, wash off the vaseline, and your feet should be a lot softer.

I would try to do it every second day if the feet are in really calloused, if not once or twice a month should be fine, but make sure your tootsies are always moisturized like any other part of your body.
