Default Health survey

I wanted to do a health survey to see how often you guys get sick. I thought that it might be interesting... It would also be great if you could also post some of your lifesyle choices. As in exercise, eating etc. Cool

good poll! I don't get sick very often and it was the same when I was a kid...I would get the "perfect attendance" award at school because I never missed school due to illness!haha!

I find everytime I turn around I'm sick. Of course I am far from being a healthy person. I dont exercise (except walking 5mins to and from my bus stop). I eat fairly healthy foods at supper (meat, 2 veggies, sometimes a starch), but othertimes i munch on like chips, ice cream, cookies, etc.

Actually *sick*? Maybe once or twice a year.
Now *allergies*, that's a whole other story! LOL

Having said that, however, I must admit that I've had more doctor's appointments this past year than in the last 5 years all added together. BUT, it was all related to a single issue, which was finally diagnosed as a hiatal hernia. Part of the upper end of my stomach slipped up through the valve between the stomach and esophagus, which doesn' allow it to close all the way so acid slips up into the esophagus. And let me tell you, stomach acid will hurt like CRAP when it's eating away at your esopahagus!! Yikes! But I've lost weight and am taking medication for it, so it's under control now except for the occassional flare-up.
Whew!

I thought that is was relevent to this thread and poll to include tips for boosting your immune system.

The best defense againts illness is a good immune system, and one of the best ways to make sure your immunity levels are where they should be is to eat right - to take in the right proportions of nutrients, eat enough of them, and fuel your body with them throughout the day. Supplementation is also important. A good multivitamin/multimineral supplement that emphasizes anitoxidants will provide the levels of the micronutrients needed to support your immune system and protect againts infections and illness.

Exercise is a powerful immune system builder. Not only are immune levels higher in people who exercise on a regular basis, but exercise has also been shown to boost the level of natural killer and T helper cells in the body that suppress certain types of cancer.

Things you should know:
- Recovering from illness or injury requires eating a well-balanced diet of nutrient rich food.
- Long recoveries may require adjusting calorie intake to compensate for reduced physical activity
- There are no 'magic potions' that will speed up a recovery. Take any claims of products that can do so with a grain of salt.
- The best way to boost your immunity is to exercise regularly and eat a balanced diet.

Seasonal allergies, mostly. Things like grass and pollen and dust, so I typically spend all spring and summer sneezy, watery-eyed and itchy. Very pretty! LOL
