I think it is o.k to lose 1-2 pounds a week safely by walking the treadmill and eating right- cut out the junk food. If you try to walk on the treadmill for very long periods of time to try to lose a couple of pounds a day- you will run yourself into a state of utter exhaustion and you will probably not enjoy it after a week or so. I know we all want quick results but weight loss takes time and consistency and is achievable but not in a week. Set yourself a goal, walk on the treadmill 4-5 times a week and aim for 2 pounds a week. You'll definitely see the results of your hard work by earlly February- good Luck!

I agree with Scully, we would all love to be able to get the extra lbs off but it has to be done safely. If you lose weight really fast it comes back really fast and usually cause more weight gain.

Judi is right. If you lose too much weight, or not eat enought your body goes into starvation mode and stores fat really easily... so then it becomes really hard to keep the weight off because whenever you eat anything your body furiously stores any fat. Apparantly losing 10% of your body weight per year is the healthiest way to lose weight and keep it off

I definitely agree! Im only 19 years old and I go to the gym about once a week to relieve stress and I see these girls in there who have been on the elliptical for 2 hours at pretty high speeds. They arent even girls who need to lose weight. It makes me pretty sad to see it.
