Question Waxing

I bought a packet of warm wax to use at home but then I read on the package that you shoudn't use it if you take prescripted medicine for acne. I take antibiotics, do you think I can use it? I've read that if you use differine (which you apply on the spots) you shouldn't use wax on the face, but I'm going to wax my legs. I don't think antibiotics will effect the skin on the legs, but I don't know. Anyone?

I think you will be okay. You could try a sample area on your skin though if you're worried, just to see if it goes a bit weird.

It sounds as though it will be ok. I am on antibiotics for acne also, and I still am getting waxed. But as mette says, to be on the safe side do a test patch and wait 24 hours to see if anything happens before doing the rest of the leg.

Yes I agree that you should do a patch test, but I know I take several meds and I have never had a problem.

Yesterday I used the first time cold wax on my lower legs. A few hours later they were red and it looked like sunburn. It's burning and itching. I put aloe vera gel on it, but today it's not better and I can't go out with a skirt or dress. It seems that my skin is peeling now. Is my skin too sensitive? Did I anything wrong?

For some reason more women have problems with cold wax than the warm, I am not to sure if its a chemical or a reaction to the type of wax. Let it calm down, do a patch test in a small area if you have the same reaction do not use again. Did you use any products prior to the waxing skin lotion oil, another thing you can try on the patch test is to lightly dust with baby powder. Hope it feels better soon. Try some very light moisturizers to calm the area.

Thanks Judi! Now it's a little better, it doesn't hurt me any longer. My leg skin is peeling of, I had selftanned my legs and so it's looking a little curious. I didn't know, that warm wax makes less problems than cold wax. I'll give it a try with the baby powder. Otherwise I'll try the warm wax.

I think you should be careful. As others have said do a test first. If you still have doubts then don't hesitate to seek the advice of a specialist.
