It always pains me to see someone say that she hates herself because of weight issues. It's a horrid reminder that our society has a nearly infinite capacity to create colossal perversions of self-image. There aren't many good reasons on earth to hate oneself, and weight is among the very worst of reasons to do so.
Losing 40 pounds is manageable, but not by July. Not if you want to keep the weight off, that is. Losing 40 pounds (responsibly) should be a process that would continue from now until January or so (best case) and quite possibly until NEXT July. You should be thinking of losing 1/2 pound to one pound per week, steadily and consistently. The good news is that this is easily enough done. A small increase in exercise or improvement in diet should get you there. The bad news is that you have to be ready to engage in a long, disciplined program - one that will only start showing results mid- to late-summer. You should not think of it as a short term solution to a problem, because this is one problem that absolutely will NOT respond to a quick fix. You really need to be thinking about a life change. To be sure, it's a change that is absolutely within your power, but you will need to continue to focus on a sustainable diet and exercise until you meet your Maker. On the other hand, if you hate your life right now, it sounds like a change on that scale might be welcome!
