I am wondering what kind of music everyone here listens to, and also are there any particular music genres that you dislike?

Feel free to post a list of your favourite bands/artists.

I like the alot of different genres. I'm not really a fan of current music. Hardly any new music sounds original. Anything other than hip hop and country I will probalbly like. I'm really weird, one minute I'll listen to the Charlie and the Chocolate Factory Soundtrack than I'll listen to Elvis, then Queen.

I am about the same as Lynnlee, I enjoy all times of music. I enjoy classical music as well as hip-hop. I like the old Rock and Roll bands and I even like Enimen. So I really can't say I dislike anything.

A lil country (Shania, Boney M...although they sing released good pop numbers too...)

Well, I like all different kinds of rock (a lot of classic rock), but I suppose I shall always have a passion for Grunge rock in particular as it's been my first and favourite genre as a whole. I also listen to Metal, as well as certain classical, and Irish folk music.

The bands I listed above actually wrote their own music, played their own music, as well as vocals.


On an end note, I do highly dislike rap. I dislike rap as it has absolutely nothing to offer in the way of talent and music. There is no melody, and no harmony, just a repetitious and boring, annoying beat. All rap is pretty much the same with only the words changing as there is no tune or harmonic structure to vary it. There is no singing (no vocal talent), none of these rappers play instruments (zero instrumental talent) none of these rappers write their own music (no musical talent) The reasons are numerous. Rap cannot rightly be considered art. Much less, real music. On the contrary, rap is noise and repititious shallow fantasies about "b*tches," or "how much mutha f***** money, and h**s I got!"

No offense to any rap fans out there. I am merely stating the facts, and my own personal opinion and reasons for why I don't like rap.

I also dislike techno, dance, and what is known as "pop" these days.

Hmm, I'm not sure what sort of music I like. I love all sorts of current music, I'm not so keen on rock music (sorry elisabeth!!) but I really like radiohead, there is a more 'upbeat' version of their song 'just' out at the moment, it's a cover and is one of my favorite songs around at the mo. I also like an embarrasing amount of drum and bass(!) as well as some dance music, but it eventually gets on my nerves. Probably one of my favorite genres is folk music, I've grown up in a kind of folky environment and my absolute favorite singer is Kate rusby (anyone heard of her? Didn't think so)But as I say, i'm pretty easygoing about all sorts of music.
