we learnt it in yr 4. about 8 or nine yrs old. but i think we had all had it explained by our mums before hand- albeit badly.
Up until it was explained in school, i thought that if your period stopped, then you had sex, you would get pregnant slightly wrong

strange... maybe curriculums will start changing to adjust to the fact that people are getting it earlier and earlier
