I just thought that whilst this thread was still active that I would give some tips that helped me when I first got my period and got really bad cramps. I found that drinking more water really helped with cramps and bloating. Also, if you suffer from cramps - try eating lighter meals during this time.. big, heavy meals tend to make cramps worse. People also try heat.. putting a hot water bottle on their stomach or having a bath... the water bottle helped me - but the bath didn't, because as soon as I hopped out - the pain was worse.
Lastly... exercise! Exercise creates a natural painkiller!

Yea, most people try to get out of P.E by blaming cramps, but as sarra said excersise is better! And the hot water bottle does work!
Great and Correct Post!

Also, taking supplements such as evening primrose oil and starflower oil around the week preceeding your period tends to decrease the side effects (e.g moodswings, water retention, bad skin...).
Like sarrazanna was saying about applying heat to the area is true; it helps a lot. I always get a pain in my back, so I actually apply "deep heat" cream. It's meant for muscle pain, but it is quite warming so has a pleasing effect without having to have a hot water bottle held on your back for however long. |

I HATE CRAMPS!! they are terrible. in PE and whatnot, a lot of the times my guy friends got hit in "that area" when we were playing sports like soccer... and while i was symphathizing with them i also had a flash of sadistic pleasure of "now you know how we feel every month..."
