I am currently studying to become a beauty therapist. The course I'm doing will lead to a diploma recognized by CIBTAC.
If that's what you really want then go for it and follow your dream. Do your research before you choose to attend a particular course, as they cost money. In the course you study not only how you perform a facial or do waxing, pedicure or manicure, you go into more detail. You study the structure of the skin and hair, the bones of the skull, the blood and lymph etc. It's not easy, you have to be dedicated. anyway good luck if you wish to ask any questions feel free. |

thank you,i feel so excited at the thought of it,i want to go out and buy all the books i`ll need and read them now, even though if I do decide to do the course i wont be able to start til september =[This is 100% what i want and what i feel i was ment to do in life,i feel like i would actually look forward to getting out of bed and going to college everyday. The only problems i have are,i would still need to work and find a job with hours to suit my course and then theres course expenses and transport etc.Its going to be difficult for me

It is expensive but you could also work part time, or as I am doing work full-time and doing the course part-time. You'll find a way that suits you best. The book we use is 'Beauty Therapy Fact File' by Susan Cressy.

If you live in the UK and money will be a problem, you should investigate EMA (education maintenance allowance). I'm assuming you're year 11 going onto college in september? If there's a career's advice person at your school you should definitely ask them about funding yourself through college. And if there's no careers person, ask about it in when you have an interview for college. A lot of my friends get EMA- you can get upto £30 per week so as you don't have to get a job that eats up your study time. sorry if you already knew all that!! good luck and let us know how it goes ![]() |

That is one of my dreams too. I love photography too and I know I have other options when I finish College but I would also love to get into the beauty industry someday and run my own salon.
