Default Store Lighting...

Hi,

I was in Sephora the other day and thought "Ugh, this lighting is horrible!" You know those little mirrors with the halo light they have around? They showed every little flaw on my face it was depressing! Do they do that to make you buy more makeup??? I wish their lighting was more like daylight and more subtle. Drugstores have that lighting, like florescent daylight that people actually look good in (surprisingly). Anyone else want to rant about this? lol. I love Sephora (although we've only had it in Canada for about 4 years) but I hate the lighting! Anyway...

I always take a compact mirror with me to gauge any makeup I am buying in natural light, I hate store lighting it always makes you look sallow.

bright lighting tends to do that dark lighting does that sometimes too, it probaly is a scam or there just good lights. so you can see your make up better. direct sunlight is much better to see anything.

Judi, that's a great idea! I show get me a good compact mirror. Only reason I don't have one is I'm not big on touch-ups once I'm outside. I'm actually in Toronto. Maybe they had Sephora out in BC before they had them in Ontario but...We've only had it for 4 years. The only other way we got high-end stuff like Benefit, Smashbox...etc was Holt Renfrew (like a Saks), or the shopping channel or online. Pretty sad...Of course we've always had the others like Clinique, Dior, Chanel...

DancingFlame, they could be just good lights but that just means putting on more makeup and then looking even more made-up. I think there is something suspicious about it.

Rose, I hate changing rooms too! That's one of the reasons I don't try clothes on in-store. I just know I'll feel worse about myself in there. So I just buy stuff, try them on at home and return them if they don't fit.
