I finally did it! I'm so excited!
I've wanted a tattoo for over 10 years. Really! Back when I first decided that I wanted one, most girls didn't get them. I knew only one girl and very few guys who had them. So I was hesitant to do it. A few years later, and it seemed EVERYONE ELSE had one, but I still didn't. At the time, the man I was married to hated tattoos. He more or less told me that if I got one, he wouldn't find me attractive any more. So I didn't get one. Five years later, I was divorced from that person. But being single put quite a strain on my finances, and I just didn't have the money. I was dating someone new, and he didn't like tattoos either, so I resigned myself to the fact that I'd probably neve get one. I just didn't think about it any more. A year later, I was again single and unattached, but again without any spare cash. I had bills to pay, and the desire to get a tattoo, although still in my heart, was not really something I was going to make plans to go do. Last month, a friend of mine called and told me that a friend of his had just moved here from California, and he's a tattoo artist, and he's trying to get enough business going here to open up shop. So if I knew anyone who wanted a tattoo, give him a call. well, that was like a gift being dropped in my lap! Here was my opportunity, at last, to get that tattoo! So, after a week or two of trying to decide EXACTLY where and what I wanted, I finally decided on this butterfly on my right shoulder. Mike (my fiance now) went with me. Boy was I nervous! I tend to chatter non-stop when I'm nervous. My friend kept asking me "are you alright? You're really nervous, aren't you?" Any way, since everyone always asks "did it hurt?" I'll go ahead and answer that. It was uncomfortable, kind of like a sharp pinching, but not unbearable. Up higher near my neck was more sensitive. But it was worth it. I'm happy to finally have my own little piece of artwork! Here it is..... |

Thanks! I'm really happy with it. Can't wait to show it off now. LOL
![]() He's really a good artist. I downloaded several different shapes, sizes, and colors of butterly clipart from the internet and printed them all off one one sheet. So when I got there, I handed him this sheet and we discussed what I wanted. I was saying stuff like, "See, I like the size and shape of this one, and the shade of blue on that one, but also with some pink like from this other one over here....." And he made suggestions as to other details like the antennae, dots, outlines, shading, placement, etc. He really did a great job. Oh, and he's also working on one for my friend that had called me. He's doing a Native American Indian drawing that my friend's brother drew. It's going to be awesome when it's done. |

Aww, thanks all!
I'm really happy with it. I kinda wish now that I'd done it sooner, but it just wasn't the right time until now. I'm a butterfly person, too. ![]() |

yay...sounds strange...but i don't like the real life butterflies...mainly because i have a phobia of any type of insect. I once went to this butterfly farm...and they were everywhere...i didn't realise how scared i would be. But i do love pictures of them...as long as they are not real! lol
