Exclamation Feelings on Fur

How do you guys feel about the use of fur in clothing? Do your feelings extend to leather, and if not, what is your reasoning for one and not the other? Does vintage fur count?

Im not really a fur fan.
My reason is.....they kill the animal, skin them, and then throw everything else. I eat meat and all, but i eat meat because i choose to, and its healthy and good for your body. I would feel different about fur if mostly everything was being used from the animal....not just the skin.

It might not make sense to anyone, but thats how i feel

i am against fur, im a vegetarian, but i do realise why people choose to eat meat but i don't see the point of killing animals for vanity. i dont like leather either, but for school we have to wear leather shoes, so i really have no choice.

I sort of agree with horse_luver. I am actually a vegetarian myself, but obviuosly not eating meat doesn't sstop animals being killed.
I think that if a cow is being killed for meat, then you may as well use it's skin for something. But if an animal is being killed purely for its fur, then I feel that is wrong. Especailly since modern ways with fabrics are able to replicate a fur pretty easily anyways.
Having said this, I have just remembered that downsatirs in our 'fabric draw' we have some rabbit skins, but I'll just stress that the rabbits belonged to friends of ours, who died of old age (the rabbits, not the friends) and for some reason our friends skinned them and gave the sskin to us. We haven't really used the skin for much, but I think my parents use it for making the hair on puppets...

****My post is graphic so dont read it if you are sensitive****

And there is a huge market for DOG fur. It comes in from China and they label it as other types. They cage TONS of dogs into a tiny care that are injured, sick, etc and have no shelter, then they usually beat them (they say the adremeline makes the meat better) and then they skin it and most of them are not dead. You can google 'dog fur trade, or dog meat market" to learn more. But it will leave you heart broken

When I was younger and stupid I thought furs were glamorous, so I got one.
I think I wore it a total of 5 times, it was the most uncomfortable feeling I have ever had. Here I was an animal lover and I bought into the glam aspect of it.
I do not wear fur, at all now and my fight is for the plight of animals that are put thought harm by owners or cash cows.
I eat meat, and I wear leather but the fact remains that at least the whole animal is used and not wasted like the fur industry.

I have some awesome vintage fur that my grandmother gave me. I usually don't wear them because here in the US fur isn't as popular as it is in some parts of europe. I don't wear faux fur because I don't like the way it feels. I also wear leather and eat meat, so i guess I am a pretty typical person in that respect.
I think some of the paint throwing activists take it too far, but I am glad to see that fur is falling out of style (in some parts of the world).

I agree with the majority here, I do eat meat (although I was a vegetarian for 5 years in my younger days), and I do wear leather, but I don't really agree with fur as a vanity.
