It's more pracical for the current lifestyles of most people. Next there is Soft lenses. And you have to maintain them by purchasing cleaning and storing solutions. Then there is Rigid Gas Permeable (RGP) lenses. Which means that Oxygen passes through the lenses easier. It's a hard lens and it's slowly being phased out because of the popularity and the increase of Soft lens technology. Again because of it's lack of popularity, only one company makes a cleaning solution for RGP and it's quite expensive. Then there's Toric lenses, there're a cross between a RGP and a Soft lens. Unfortunately there is only one company on the market that carries cleaning solutions for it. As the popularity for this type of lens becomes more common, so will the variety of brands of the cleaning solutions will become available. Now there is a new lens on the market called Corneal Refractive Therapy Lenses. It was developed by NASA. It's a hard lens. However, it's made specifically to wear while you're sleeping. When you get up in the morning, remove them and your vision will be corrected for about 8-10 hours. So you don't need to wear any other corrective lenses in the daytime. Over time, your vision will be corrected for longer periods of time. How does this work? The reason is that the CRT lens physically changes the shape of your cornea to your 'perscription' while you're sleeping. Apparently, test subjects didn't complain about any discomfort and the lens is made so that the eye can breathe while you're sleeping. The CRT lens is so new on the market, that cleaning solutions are difficult to find in drug stores. This will change as time goes by. I would consult with your eye care practicioner to see what type of lens is right for you based on your needs and lifestyle. I wear RGP and I am thinking of changing my perscription to the Toric lens, because the cleaning solutions for RGP are getting more and more difficult to find... And I am talking just the one brand that is available Well, this is a start... Good luck ![]()

I wear contacts. I abolutely love them. I have very horrible vision. With my contacts off, the computer I looking at right now would just be this huge blur.
Contacts are basically a suction cup that you put on your eye. They are very comfortable. I can't feel mine at all. If you are scared to death about touching your eyes, using contacts will rid of this fear really quick. The first time I wore contacts, I was really scared about taking them off. Over a month later, I wasn't scared at all about touching my eye.

I love wearing contacts, better than glasses anyway. The first few times i used it, it was very hard for me to take it out. You need some practice i guess. and it felt weird having it in your eyes >.< but after you get used to it, its much better.
I wanted to try coloured lenses, and also there's these contacts that actually make your eyes look bigger, i think it was acuvue, dunno whether its in pakistan though. i've not yet tried them, just hoping my mom wouldn't mind buying them for me :P |

I have worn contact lenses (soft and Toric) for 23 years (yikes...that's a long time, ya'll!). Most recently, my doctor put me in the newest disposable Toric soft lenses--they're okay. Pretty comfortable as far as contact lenses go. I have thought very seriously about having laser or some sort of refractive surgery, but my cornea are very thin so the type of surgery I would be eligible for is VERY expensive.
I am very intrigued by the CRT lenses that vogueboy mentioned. Can't wait to do some more research on this and see if it's an option for me. Bipasha, you should research what is available to you and discuss your contact lens options with your optometrist/opthamologist to determine what will work best for you. If you swim, I'm afraid that contacts (soft lenses, in particular) would not be a good choice. Otherwise, you have a myriad of options available to you. Good luck!

Regarding kajal, check with your optometrist and see what he/she says; you can definitely wear mascara--I have worn many kinds of mascara over the years, but I have yet to find one I love more than Kiss Me...it's best for contact lens wearers.
