I want a hair colour product that doesn't fade after 2 weeks and keeps my hair shiny. What have you guys used that you've been happy with?

Loreal is the best I have tried out of store bought, there 100% color just stays and stays and with reds that unheard of. Hope this helps.
Preference, Feria 3x dimesions is great if you want some highlites and lowlite in you hair for a natural look, all have great color selection.

Are you talking permanent or non-permanent? I used a good non-permanent: L'oreal Casting (I think it was l'oreal anyway). I'm guessing you're wanting permanent though... I would recommend loreal for that a well!

I was talking permanent and I find that the ones that say "permanent" actually don't stay permanently on my hair for some reason. A few weeks ago, I had my hair coloured professionally (dark brown) and now it has already faded and I'm seeing red and brown highlights coming out everywhere....plus some greys. I'll give the other ones you guys mention a try!! Thanks!

It's not unusual to see some fading, even with a permanent hair color.
Reds (or even brown shades with very much red in them) are the worst. Permanent hair colors work by opening the cuticle of the hair (which the peroxide does) and depositing color beneath the cuticle of the hair. Once the cuticle has been lifted like this, it doesn't seal all the way back like "virgin" hair does, so over time, shampooing can gradually pull some of the color out, thus causing fading.

I've had good experiences with Garnier's 100% Colour. But, since I get bored easily, I wanted a change the last time I dyed my hair. I ventured into my local Sally Beauty Supply and picked up a creme colour called Ion Colour Brilliance. It's a little more time-consuming since you actually have to mix the dye and the developer, then apply it using a bowl and brush, but I think this method allows for a lot more control and precision. When I rinsed the dye out, it was as though I had just used a conditioning treatment. My hair was incredibly silky and the colour was gorgeous. I think I'm sticking with Ion from now on.
One other note in response to what Blackbird said: certain daily practices can cause haircolour to fade more quickly. Sometimes it's the shampoos you use. Brands such as Head & Shoulders and Prell are notorious for stripping the hair of its colour due to their detergant properties. Another common cause of fading is excessive use of styling tools. If you blow dry your hair, try to keep it on a cool setting. Heat blows open the cuticle of the hair and, as Blackbird said, the cuticle doesn't completely seal back up. Hope this helps!

![]() also, when you have coloured hair, never use head and shoulders shampoo or conditioner, hairdressers always call this the 'paint stripper' ![]() |
