Default Blonde dilemma

For the summer I've been considering going blonde- what do you think? The photo on my profile is black and white, so I'll fill you in on my colouring. I'm what you would call a "warm medium" with mid to dark brown hair, hazel eyes and skin which is pale at the moment, but tans well.
My only problem is my eyebrows. They are very dark; darker than my natural hair colour. Would you suggest that I get them bleached? I've been told that because I pluck them fairly thin, that it might not matter too much. Also, if I do go blonde, I'll just do a semi-permanent at first for the holidays.
I've been thinking about the shade, do you agree that this would go with my colouring?

I would say it would suit you, it is a warm color and that would look good on you. And don't worry about doing your brows, they will be fine just the way they are.

Sounds like it would look nice, but maybe you should try a blonde color that washes out first? Just to make sure it's the color that you want.

It's probably a good idea to dye the brows as well, if you want the blonde to be perminant. Even if it's a shade or two darker than the blonde you are going for. It gives it more of a natural look.

Go with some friends, and make a fun day out of it. Everyone can pick a wash out hair dye.. and you can use it on each other. At the end of the day, if your colour doesnt suit you, it will wash out, and you can also see how your friends turn out and if you think one of there colours would look better on you. And yes, i would suggest you dye your eyebrows, but only do it if you are sure of the colour and buy a full dye. Because if you dye them to match your wash out colour, they might look a bit weird with your natural colour.

I hate to be a party-pooper, but they don't make "wash-out" blonde hair dye.

To go blonde, you need to remove the natural color first with a bleach (called lifting). The only "wash out" blond they make is really a toner, which is a way of slightly changing the shade or tone of hair that is 1) already blonde 2) already bleached.

So, if someone with brown hair wants to go blonde, they'll have to bleach it and there's no washing that out.

Depending on HOW blonde you go, you might now want to bleach your eyebrows. For one thing, it looks REALLY REALLY weird when it grows out. A lot of natural blondes and red heads have darker eyebrows (and body hair) than the hair on their head, so it doesn't really look unnatural to have blonde hair and brown eyebrows.

What you might want to do is try a product called "Sun-In" which is a very mild highlighting formula that works with the sun or a hair dryer to gradually and very naturally lighten the hair so that it looks "sun-bleached" rather than bottle bleached. Both of my sons use it and it looks very natural and really great. Very "surfer-dude".

And sorry if I sound like I'm giving a lecture - but I did go to school for cosmetology and I hate for people to waste money on something that won't work.

To lighten hair, you have to use bleach for "lift" and then use a color to "tone".

Fawn
