Default Sulfate Free

I apologize if this has been posted somewhere already, but I just wanted to mention one of my favorite recent haircare discoveries: sulfate free shampoos and conditioners.

Most shampoos bubble up a lot when you lather them through your hair. This is due to the presence of sulfates (usually the 2nd or 3rd ingredients listed on the back of most bottles, meaning they're very abundant). The problem, though, is that sulfates are salt-based and therefore have extreme drying effects on the hair.

My hairdresser suggested I sample different brands of sulfate free products and so far I've used two. What a difference!

The first was DevaRed. It's specifically formulated for curly red hair (mine is naturally auburn and wavy). The texture was a little thin for my liking, but I do have to admit it made my hair a lot softer. I liked the results but wasn't crazy about the smell.

I moved on to SudzzFX - AMAZING, let me tell you. Its consistency is a lot thicker than that of DevaRed, but it still contains no harmful sulfates. It's a bit expensive, but it does have incredible effects on the hair. I let my little sister try it when I was home from college and after that I had to keep it hidden so it didn't all disappear on me It also smells great. The shampoo I used (called Whipped Creme & Honey) reminded me of a cream soda flavored lollipop. Yummy.

Anyway, my whole point in writing all this is that regardless of the brand (more and more are coming out with sulfate-free lines), this is the way to go. Much healthier, definitely softer, and so so shiny!

Thanks for the info, I will look into the shampoo, but uncertain if I can get it in Canada.
