I have dark hair but I really want blonde hair for summer. Friday night I tried coloring it, but my hair turned out kind of yellowy, golden ish color, not ugly but NOT the color I was going for. I matched my shade up with a shade on the side of the box and it SAID it would turn out a pale blonde, which is what I wanted. But, it didn't. I used Clairiols Herbal Essence because I've used it in the past and found my color stayed a long time with it. I'm worried that there isn't a product that will turn my hair into the color I want. I'd LOVE to have hair color like this....
![]() Are there better coloring products to use that are prehaps a bit stronger and would give me this result? I really don't want to have to go to a stylist, I like doing things on my own and if I can, would like to do this by myself. Thanks, please help! |

The rule of thumb with coloring your hair is you can got to shades darker or two shade lighter, thats the most hair color can lift and then depending on the shade you pick the shade you get especially in the blond tones is a real gamble. I would just having you hair professional lighted before you go any further, because once you have the color you want you can find out what you need to do to maintain that shade. The other reason I suggest going professional now instead of going any further with home coloring is its is a lot more money for corrective color if it goes really bad, than to have it lighted and toned right at the beginning.

I second everything Judi said, and just want to add that also if you home-process over already processed hair you're doubling the amount of damage.
A stylist can determine the condition of your hair and decide what products and procedures would best suit your hair.
