Exclamation dyed hair effects

before i dyed my hair, my hair never got frizzy, and i could let it air dry or blow dry it and it be perfectly normal, shiney, smooth. ever since i dyed my hair, i cant let it air dry, or blow dry it without it getting puffy, frizzy, and so not smooth, i have to straighten it to death to make it right again, and that doesnt always work with my thick hair. I dont know what to use on it to make it nice again, or if there is anything i can use until it grows out. Can someone help me?

Hair coloring effects everyone differently, I find my hair responds better after coloring but thats my hair. Hair dyes change the cuticle of you hair, I would suggest for the next while do not use anything hot or damaging on your hair and get a good deep conditioner. Let your hair some what recover, a trim will help as well. I recommend K-Pac which is one of the best deep conditioner out there. To take the frizzes you can get a frizz control product that you can use every day, Pantete and Infusioum, Frizz Ease, Sebastian Potion Nu 9 just to name a few.

If you want to continue coloring I might suggest a semi permanent hair color that last 24-28 shampoo, this is a lot gentler on your hair.
Hope this helps!!!!!!!!!

OMG! I have the same exact problem! My hair is naturally dark, and I dyed it a light brown. Now my hair is all nasty! It was very stupid of me to dye my hair again. My tips are all dry and nasty! Don't worry kdub951, I am in the same boat as you

You could try to go a bit darker. For some people, darker shades are less damaging than lightening. Also, try to go a bit longer in between touch ups, deep condition the hair and use a product like Frizz Ease. This does work well on my hair. A good cut can help too, if the ends are damaged.

Excellent advice from everyone who has answered!
One more thing I'd add is to use a moisturuzing shampoo and conditioner. Look for one that says for dry/damaged hair.

the further away the shade of colour u get ure hair dyed 4rm ure natural colour the more harmful the effect the sye has on ure hair, so if u go 4rm brown to blonde ure hair will be alot more frizzier and drier than if u went 4 light brown colour, i wud suggest deep conditioning treatments plus giving ure hair a break for flat irons, curling tongs et.c u cud use sum of the deep conditioners mentioned but u cud try a hot oil treatment too using either olive oil or coconut oil both help to tackle the dryness and frizziness, hope that helps

These have all been great tips, and yes I definetly recommend using a moisterising shampoo/conditioner, and even deep conditioning treatments if the damage is that severe. I dyed patches of my hair bright red, and in order to do so, the hairdresser had to bleach through my dark brown hair, so on some days those patches were dry and frizzy.
But now I use redken's conditioning treatments and they work wonders! Goodluck.
