Clip in hair extensions - Guide

Hi,
ive got shoulder length hair but it very fine ive just bought some human hair extensions clip in type .
They are 12 inches in length with 6 clips on each and there are two of these.
Obviously they need cutting .
Does anyone know the best size and what width?

Im thinking of cutting to make 2 x 6 inch width for the back and then .
2 x 4 inch and then 2 x 2 inch???
Has anyone fitted these as to a guide ?
