Hello, I've been thinking I need a new straightener, and I was wondering if anyone could make a recommendation. I was originally planning on getting a Chi, because that's what my stylist uses, but I've heard they don't last very long. I read some good reviews about Sedu, but I've never tried one, and I don't know anyone who has one. Anyone have good or bad experiences with either Chi or Sedu?

I've used flat irons from different companies over the years. And there's two things I've learned from them: 1) All of them are crap when used on a film set. 2) Most of them are very good to excellent when used at home. My next one is definately going to be a Chi. Yes it's the most expensive one on the market, and it works. Other Make-up Artists and Hair Stylists that I work with on set all have Chi's. And like all appliances, some crap out sooner than others. The typical working life of flat irons are between 1-2 years anyway. Somehow, curling irons seem to last longer...

I need some more clarification, your post is a bit confusing... I think you mean, that you need some guidance for some hair looks and make-ups that go with that look? or are you asking about techniques? Thanks

There is a theme which has to be selected
like if I am doing a Sunrise Sunset/ Day Night then the kind of cut I would incorporate which is followed by the color choices & then the overall hairstyle, make up & the dress for both the models. So needed some inputs...... |

Again, your post is still vague, however I am going to attempt at breaking it down. OK, sounds like you're trying to find an approach on how to put all these things together. I would approach it in this manner. Take you're theme and interpret it how you think it should all go together. It's like you're telling a visual story. You have several elements that you have to work together: 1) Cut 2) Colour 3) Style 4) Make-up 5) Wardrobe on 2 models. Pick one theme, let's say Sunrise for one model. Pick one element and work on that. Take the next element and work on that, ensuring that it compliments the first element. And so on. So when your first model is done, there should be a flow to it. All the 5 elements will look like one, yet they are seperate. Then, you move to your second model. And repeat the above steps. With one exception. You do the opposite to that model. Sunset. Yet they both have to compliment each other. Very important, or else your interpretation will look messy, confusing and out of balance with each other. You have 5 elements that you have to work with. You can break it down to make it look less daunting. Example. Elements 1-3 are all Hair. 4 is Make-up and 5 is Wardrobe. Sounds simple right? Because it is. Typically, something of this scale is done by seperate people. 2 for the hair, 1 for make-up and 1 for wardrobe. Watch designers like Alexander McQueen, John Galliano, and Betsy Johnston. And see how their designs flow and compliment the hair and make-up and vise-versa. Everything flows, nothing stands out. If one thing stands out, it's out of balance and it's not esthetically pleasing. And your story doesn't work. Take a look at the Nina Ricci Fall/Winter 07/08 collection from the Paris Fashion Week. To see all these elements in balance with each other. This is a technical breakdown of what I think your post is asking = "How do I approach this?" (It sounded like that to me). Colour choices, cutting styles, and working styles, that's all in your head, your vision, your story... Remember: You're the artist, the designer, the stylist, you're creating. No one can do that for you. Good luck
