I just recently dyed my hair with feria by loreal's chocolate cherry. It has turned out a very dark red, much much more red than I had anticipated. I want to go dark brown, my natural hair color, so i can just let it grow out. I understand it may be impossible to completely cover this vibrant red, but does anyone have any suggestions on a brand/color of hair dye I to use that will give me the best shot/results for getting brown hair?
Thank you so much, all help is appreciated. |

First let it fade a bit before trying to color over it. A dark Ash brown should cover all the red, or a netural dark brown (no red, no golds to it just dark brown)
Garnier 100% is pretty good, so is Excellance. Good luck and welcome to the forums.

I currently have a box of Garniear Nutrisse in Dark brown. Do you think this color would be suitable? Or should I stick to the 100% or excellance instead?]
thank you so much for the advice ![]() |

I've used the Garnier Nutrisse brand and had pretty good luck with it. I don't recall offhand if the shade you've got is a neutral brown, but if the box doesn't indicate as such, there may be more information on their website or they may have a toll free phone number on the box. Like Judi said, go for something with no red or gold tones, as red or gold will just enhance the red already in the color on your head!

as a hair dye nutrisse is good- leaves my hair v soft and shiny
Be careful when you're choosing a dark brown though- at first it can often look black (unless that's what you want!) ![]() |
