I really regret getting gel nails. I don't like the look of them. They look too artificial. How do I go about removing them at home? Has anyone had any luck doing this>?

you are going to need some acetone or nail polish with acetone. you are going to have to pour enough in a bowl to cover your nails and soak. this is going to be hard on your nails but the gel nails are going to ruin your nails no matter how you get them off. this is the best way. i would say after a 5 minute soak start to see if the gel is loosening. keep soaking until the gel loosens, i am warning you it might take a while. after all the nails are off wash hands with moisturizing soap. when dry apply hand cream and massage into nails and cuticles. good luck

I've removed acrylics before, but not gel nails. I'm not sure they soak off in acetone like acrylics, do they?

a girlfriend from work got gel nails and hated them so as soon as she got to work we used acetone. she couldn't soak her nails but she ket applying drops of acetone in between her nails and the gel nails. it worked it just took so long because we couldn't soak them off. it is better than pulling the gel nails off because the real nail gets layers torn off when you do that.

I've also heard of filing them off, but you'd have to be very careful not to file into the natural nail.

gel nails can be thick. filing them off unless you had a sanding machine would take forever also. that is a good alternative though. i would imagine it would be better for your nails. acetone can dry out your nails.
