I made this up and it worked! It is soooo easy! Just buy a cheap soap at your dollar store and grate them into pieces.
Oatmeal Honey Bar 1/2 cup grated soap 1/2 cup oatmeal 1 tablespoon honey 1 tablespoon olive oil/ cooking oil 1 tablespoon water Method: Add 1/2 cup of grated soap to 1/2 cup oatmeal. Blend (using blender) the two ingredients until the mixture has a grainy consistency. Pour into a bowl and add a tablespoon each of the following; water, honey, olive oil/cooking oil. Mix with your hand and form into a firm ball. Let the ball set until hard, about 2 hours and your soap is ready to be use!!! Last edited by Zameera : 07-19-2006 at 03:14 AM. |

that's so interesting! I wonder if you use a facial cleansing bar, like cetaphil, you could create an even more nourishing mixture for your face? since honey, olive oil, and oatmeal are all good for your face... could you use this as a facial cleanser if you grate a facial soap bar?

when waiting for the soap to harden, cooking oil works best but olive oil works better on skin. Don't know which to choose! LOL

...Try this! This is REALLY good!!!
I got this recipe from my online friend, Sandra. In a jar, mix a big spoon of honey with juice of one lemon, some cider vinegar and fill it up full with some good oil or a mix of oils, whichever you like, she used olive, rapeseed and sesame oil as a base. Mix it well then add lots of essential oils (I like lemongrass and mandarin or lime and peppermint for a refreshing shower in the morning!) and if you like some aloe or neem extract. You can use it in the shower or just on your face, rub it in with a luffa or a cloth and rinse it. It lasts for a long time and it's sooo great! It works for shaving your legs too... ![]() |
