This is gonna sound weird, but sleep... a lot. Sleep is when the body repairs itself. Also make sure you have pain killers. The body will work harder to end pain than repair itself; so if you aren't in (as much) pain, you'll heal faster.
Plus, I'm no doctor here, but drooling over Orlando may help.
Oh and I totally agree about the ice-cream; yuck can't stand the stuff myself. See if you can find some one to make you some Yorkshire pudding. The one time I had it, it was very soft and you could swallow it very easily. You just have to use your tongue to mush it up a bit.
