Default New and looking for advice

Hi everyone. My name is Terri and I am new to this site. I am not sure this is the right place for me to look for help, but I thought I would give it a try. I am a guy, but am on the fem side and recently have been getting into wearing makeup. I am wanting to move from playing around with it at home of for clubbing to using it for everyday. The only problem is that I am soooo bad at it - first, it takes me forever and then, half the time, I just don't like the results at all. I think that what I really need a tried and true sort of everyday look that I can master so I can put it on without even thinking. Can anybody help me with this? Any ideas with looks, products, application techniques etc... for a total novice?

thanx,

terri

A tinted moisturiser suited to your skintone is light enough to be non-visible but will even out your skintone. If you get a shade lighter than, darker than and the same as your skintone you can create definition to create a stronger jawline and such. A eyebrow brush to groom your eyebrows will frame your face but also remain natural.

Thanks so much for your help. I am anxious to experiment, so I just love all your suggestions. I didn't know anything about tinted moisturizers, are they like a light foundation? How exactly would you create definition? Sorry for the dumb questions, but I am pretty clueless about this

Default Hi welcome newbie

Hi Terrigurl

Im from the UK. Id be glad to give you any help you need. Although im not exactly a pro but getting there. What colour eyes do you have? And hair, these points often should be taken into account when your trying to look your best.

If you need definition for the eyes. This may take a bit of practise but use 3 different colours. A very light, sublte one over your entire eyelid and up to the eyebrow. Blend blend. then a slighter darker shade over the eyelid. Again make sure its blended well in. And to finish apply a much darker shade to the outter corner of the eyelid. Again blend.
to finish eyelinder on the same outter part and a bit of mascara and hey presto.

It depends on what colours you use on your eyelids as to what lippie to use. If you can let me know what your colourings are, then I can suggest some shades, possibly from the MAC range (which is a fave of mine) for you to use.

I recommend booking a consultation at a M.A.C. counter or perferably a M.A.C. Pro Store. Some of them have private consultation stations.

Make sure you tell the Artist exactly what you want and looking for. They are very accommodating and open-minded.

Some of us here can try and explain to you how to 'apply' or talk about 'techniques', which is OK, however, you really need to see the application being done and then do it yourself, making corrections as you go along. And the artist will guide you as you go along as well.

I find this is one of the best environments for learning about application techniques.
