CELEBRITY MAKEUP (original article and pics at: http://www.nzgirl.co.nz/style/faceit )
Are you the kind of girl who is more likely to reach for a nude lipgloss than red lipstick? Are your best makeup friends concealer and all things natural? Are you afraid of shimmer? nzgirl takes inspiration from the movers and shakers of the celebrity world to bring you hot makeup looks for the brave and brave of heart... Gorgeous Gwen Gwen Stefani is the face behind some of the biggest trends in beauty. From pencil perfect eyebrows, to hair colour changes and, of course, the ever present vintage revival, Miss Gwen has been rocking this look for much longer than recent adopters Christina Aguilera and Scarlett Johansson. Rarely seen without a painted pout and dreamy skin, this look is friendly for day or night 1: Start with a clear base and apply concealer and foundation to clarify and mattify. 2: Taking a mid-brown eyeshadow, fill in eyebrows with a stiff brush and set with clear mascara. 3: Using a light grey eyeshadow, apply to the lid of the eye to just above the crease. Blend with a slightly darker shade working from the inside of the eye to the outside, concentrating on the lash line. 4: Line eyes with liquid eyeliner creating a flick at the outer corner of the eye and coat lashes with 2-3 coats of black as black mascara. 5: Line lips using a brush and red lipstick then fill working from the inside out. 6: Apply a dash of blusher to the apples of the cheek to finish. Vivacious Veronicas The Veronicas are earning fans around the world for their rock infused pop anthems, but in the beauty world their dark brooding eyes and pale skin are also earning them a following. A mixture of basic beauty principles and over-the-top eyes means this look is dramatic, but easy to achieve whatever your level of skill. 1: Start with a clear base, apply a tinted moisturiser and then brush over some skin illuminating powder. 2: Using a dark shimmering brown eyeshadow, apply around the eye from the very inside corner of the eye, over the lid to just above the crease. Line the eye with the same shadow. 3: Create further depth by blending a charcoal grey from the inside of the eye to the outside corner of the lid. 4: Coat lashes with mascara and lips with nude lipgloss to finish. Stunning Scarlett Now most famous for her bright pout, (Scarlett can be spotted in orange and lilac as well as her trademark red), the other key look for Miss Johansson is based around super sultry eyes. Metallic shades and dramatic lashes make this a must have look for any beauty arsenal. Plus it's an easy look to acheive at home. 1: Start with a coat of tinted moisturiser and a brush of bronzer to set. 2: Using a sponge applicator and one colour of shimmer powder apply a thin coating of colour over the entire eye. Next using a shade darker (or brighter) and a damp sponge applicator apply to the lid to just above the crease and then underneath the eye following the lash line. 3: Using khol eyeliner create a smoky eye on the lower lash line and then coat lashes with a coat of mascara. 4: Apply a neutral toned wine colour to the lips and blot to create a coloured yet natural effect. Just Enough JLo Jennifer Lopez used to be a name synonymous with OTT. Lots of bronze, lipgloss and huge lashes were Jennifer's key look. These days she’s become the fashion dolly for high fashion designers resulting in the new ultra modern mod inspired JLo. This is brave celebrity beauty for the girl who just can’t wear shimmer! 1: Using our foundation tips, apply a coat of foundation, making it look as smooth as possible. 2: Using a brown eyeshadow and stiff square tipped brush, fill in the eyebrows and pencil to create neatness if necessary. Using a white eye pencil, line just underneath the eyebrow and blend into to make the eyebrow look highlighted and defined. 3: Using a copper cream based colour, create a base over the entire eye, from the lash line of the lid to mid-way up above the crease. Apply a dab to the inside of the eye to open and brighten. 4: Apply a dark grey eyeshadow working from the inside of the eye to the outside concentrating on the lash line of the eyelid. Next using eyeliner (liquid or pencil) line the eye. 5: Coat lashes with 2-3 coats of mascara and if you still need depth and volume coat again with clear mascara. 6: Next, working along the cheekbones of the face apply a dark wine blush in a sweeping fashion using a round brush. Smooth in with finger tips to create a polished finish. 7: Coat lips with a nude lipstick and finish look with a brush of illuminating powder on the tip of nose, cheek bones and forehead

Thank you, great article. I would like to try the JLO one, I never considered using white pencil under the eyebrow. Sounds good!

That was a great article. Just wondering what the Foundation tips were for JLo's look? Were they from the editors or from Scott?
It almost seemed that JLo was departing from her signature look... ![]()

I just realised that the link that I posted with the post was not the same as the actual post
(oops), but instead it was a link to different celebrity tips. I think you will find the 'right' original article at: http://www.nzgirl.co.nz/articles/6541 and it then has a link to the foundation tips for JLO. sorry guys! lol
