Default Make-up tips for dark skin

Whether you're skin is dark or fair, when it comes to skincare, they all have common rules...Here are some tips found in a magazine (Friday - July14-20, 2006) on skin care...

1. Dark skin also needs protection from the sun. Always use a sunscreen. It will help prevent irregular pigmentation.

2. Opt for mattifying or shine-control products, as dark skin is naurally oilier.

3. Follow basic skincare; cleanse, tone and moisturise. For oily complexion, use a purifying gel cleanser; for dry , use a cream cleanser.

4. Apply eye contour gel to protect the delicate area around the eyes...

Hope this helps...

... Actually, those are basic skin care tips. Skin is skin no matter what ethnicity it is.

I thought you were going to post colour tips for darker skins...

Now, that would be some great tips!

Now that Madeupgirl's got the skin care covered, let's do some more sharing!

As a woman of color, I've discovered the following works well for me and some of my customers.

COLOR TIPS FOR BRONZE SKIN TONES
*Find foundation that blends in and disappears. Nothing looks worse than makeup that looks "lighter" than the actual skin.
*The same is true of loose or pressed powder. It is better to go darker than lighter.
*Eyeshadows in deep earth tones (ie: browns like cocoa, toffee, and cream) look natural but they also play up your eyes! Remember, blend, blend, blend!
*[b]Use dark brown eyeliner rather than black for a more natural look. Black liner makes some women appear old.
*Experiment with hair color to take years off! When it comes to hair, lighter is better! (Think Tina Turner) I LOVE black hair, it is my natural color but my hair stylist told me I drop the black rinse and go brunette. I had never tried permanent hair color. She was right! Now, I can't imagine it any other way and I get more compliments.
*Don't be afraid to use red lipstick for a dramatic look! But you can also tone it down by using only lipliner all over your lips with lipgloss over it. GLOSS is EVERY woman's best friend because it adds extra sparkle!
*Have you ever tried bronzing powder? This looks more "natural" and can actually enhance better than traditional blush. Experiment with bronzing powder on cheeks, nose, chin, and decolatage...glow, girl, glow!

FOR ALL SKIN TONES:
LADIES, TRY THIS! To find out whether you have COOL or WARM undertones. Hold a silver scarf next to your face and look at yourself in the mirror then holing a gold scarf do the same thing. Which one "lifts" your face or brightens you up? If silver does the trick then you are definitely COOL, gold represents WARM tones.

Hope that helps.
