Everyone on ultimatecosmetics mainly speaks of Bare Escentuals. It is not the only mineral make up brand out there! In fact, BareEscentuals, Youngblood, Glominerals, Jane Iredale, Sheer Cover, and many other commercialized mineral cosmetics contain an ingredient called Bismuth which makes your face extremely shiny and can irritate certain skin types and cause itchiness.
There are MANY mineral cosmetic brands out there but if you're looking for other brands that are already well established and are truly mineral, vegan, and nonsynthetic are: Everyday Minerals, Alima, Larenim, Lauress, and Monave. If you're interested in any then Google it. I'd love to hear your opinions about these products. Other established mineral brands worth trying are: Aromaleigh and After Glow. I did not list them with the other brands above because a FEW of their cosmetics contain animal by-products like carmine and beeswax and that excludes it from being vegan, but other than that they both are still great cosmetic brands that are worth trying. I use a compilation of three: Larenim, for foundation there's is best hands down; Everyday Minerals for blush, lips and concealers; SunCat's Natural Minerals for a special nightime blend she makes with silk, I sleep in it.
I use no commercial moisturizers, I use 100% jojoba oil on my face and neck. Product moisturizers almost always have silicone in them, thus keeping the mineral make up from absorbing into your skin. |
