Eyeliner and eyeshadow

This question may seen retarded to many of you individulas. But what is the difference between eyeshadow and eyeliner? I am fairly new to all of this stuff and I was looking for input

Hi there! This question is actually pretty common. Many women who do not wear any or very little makeup are unfamiliar with what things do, so its not retarded at all. Eye shadow is a cosmetic coloring that varies in all different colors and tints to enhance the eyelids.Eye liner is a cosmetic used to define the eyes and change their shape to fit a certain mood. Basically eye shadow is the chosen color of your eyelids and eye liner is the thin line close to the eye lashes to accentuate the eyes. Here are a couple of links to further help you understand:

Eyeshadow: Pigment usually in pressed/loose powder form. Also available in cream formulations.

Eyeliner: Pigment in a hard-cream formulation encased in a pencil. Also comes in a liquid and cake formulations.

You can use eyeshadows as a liner, when using a fine liner or fine angle brush. The technique is the same as when applying a cake or liquid liner.
