Default mineral veil?

I want to make the switch to mineral make up and would dearly love to find one that works well with my oily skin. I see on the infomercial for Bare Escentuals that there are women with oily skin who say their skin has cleared up since making the swtch to mineral make up, but I want to know more before I drop money on it.

What I've noticed that is missing from the variety of mineral makeup starting to appear on the drugstore/WalMart/etc shelves is the Mineral Veil. I've tried Neutrogena Mineral Sheer and Loreal Bare Naturale, but they seem to be more of a mineral/powder combination product and neither of them controlled oil as well as plain old oil-free liquid and powder combination that I've used for years. Everyone is getting on the mineral bandwagon, but no one (in the drugstore type brands) is producing a Mineral Veil type product. Now, I know the Mineral Veil is a finishing type product, the same role that powder plays with a liquid foundation, and I'd never dream of using a liquid foundation without finishing it off with a dusting of powder, because that's what helps control the oilies.

So, my question is this: does a mineral foundation require the use of a mineral veil product to finish and set the foundation and control oil? Is the mineral veil the secret to finding a mineral foundation that I can use on my oily skin?

I recently started trying mineral makeup as well. I am trying makeup from Saphoros Spa Essentials. So far I have tried the oil control primer and the oil control formula foundation. I have enjoyed both of these a lot but find that I need to layer primer-foundation-primer for max oil control. If I just do primer and foundation I feel like I have to touch up more often. I'm planning on getting their veil to try it as my last layer instead of another primer layer.

I would say that a veil is needed for oily skin even with mineral makeup. I do have to say that so far I LOVE this makeup. It makes my skin feel so much better than any liquid foundation did. I also recently tried a cream to powder foundation but the mineral foundation is better imo.

Also it's lasting sooo long. It doesn't take much at all to cover my face. I can barely even notice that there's makeup gone from the jars yet and I've been using it for about 3 weeks.

FYI - A while back I tried Neutrogena's mineral makeup and did not care for it. I'm glad I gave mineral makeup another try by going with Saphoros.

Hope this helps.

I dont know much about mineral makeup, but i have oily, acne prone skin aswell.
I tried the line of Physicians formula, and i HATED it with a passion. It made all of my flaws soooo much more noticeable. So just a heads up, and if you do want to try it, talk to someone at the store about refunds, or store credit or something.

Thanks for the info!
And Michelle, thanks also for the link. I think I may need to try a primer.

Red face Mineral Veil makeup

I also suffer from oily skin but since using Bare essentials my problem has decreased and my makeup looks great. The makeup looks so natural. At first it was hard for me to believe that stuff works but I went to the bare essentials store in the Mall and had them fix me up. I fell in love. Your skin actually changes for the better after a while. You can also purchase at Sephora's. I will never go back to liquid foundation again. With mineral makeup a little goes a long way. You have to try it in order to believe it. Mineral Makeup gets an A plus from me. Hope this helps. P.S. You can also order from QVC.Com and you have 30 days to return but if you don't like to order online try Sephora's or the actual Base Essentials store in the Mall.

Thanks for the info, sandrar. I've been looking at QVC's website, wondering if I want to take the plunge. LOL Unfortunately, there's not a Sephora nor a Bare Essentials store near me (darn it!), so I'll have to find one in Oklahoma City next time I go that way. I'm glad to hear that your oily skin has improved since using mineral make up, that's what I'm hoping mine will do.

Michelle, let me know how you like the veil. I'm curious to see if it works as well as the primer-foundation-primer layering.

I'll definitely let you know. Also at the Saphoro's website you can order small sample bags for about 2.00. When I ordered my primer they included a sample of the oil control foundation. The foundation sample has lasted about 2 weeks for me so far and I still have some left!

Like Sandrar I will never go back to liquid foundation. My face feels much better and the oil is controlled a lot more.

Thumbs up Try it you'll Like it !

I have been using B.M. for a year&1/2 or so.I have combo skin(oily in T-zone).I originally ordered the info-m kit, worth every penny! The mineral veil is a must have,it really does give a "veil" like look to the skin & you can reapply all day if you like it dosen't build up or cake.If the $ is holding you back QVC has some newbie kits or try me's from time to time(look at qvc.com mabey they have one now)they usually come W/brush you need at least one to start out. I have used nothing else since trying.I now use the radiances, shadows, liners, blushes, etc.Give it a try you can always return(idon't think you wiil)It's FUN to use;crazy but true!! Good Luck!!!

Thanks for the info. I do think the veil is going to be the key to success with the mineral make up.
