Default Eye makeup and foundation help!

I am so frustrated with makeup, seriously.

Problem 1
No matter what kind or brand of eyeliner OR eye shadow I buy, it ALWAYS smudges minutes after putting it on..Leaving me to be sitting looking in the mirror and wiping my eyes with Q-tips all day, which has hereby labeled me as "Self-obsessed". It's not my fault!

Basically, when I put on eyeliner, it creates lines when I blink, above and below my eyes.. This happens just minutes after putting it on, and keeps happening all day!

(Here's a badly photoshop'd example of what I mean: )

Eyeshadow smudges everywhere for me too, and it even goes down to my cheeks!

I've tried liquid eyeliners and cream eyeliners, and they all do the same thing. I can't use pencil eyeliners.. because for some reason, I just can't get them to work. They just .. won't leave a line on my skin. They just hurt! :P

Currently I'm having problems with Smashbox cream eyeliner, which is supposed to be amazing and all that.

I've also tried many name brands of liquid eyeliner!

What do I do?!

Problem 2

I have very pale skin, and it seems like no matter what brand of face powder I buy, it's always too dark for my skin and makes my skin look orangey! I finally found a brand that is light enough for my skin (coincidentally, a cheapo brand.. Translucent Powder by NYC) but it's very powdery and it looks really apparent that I'm wearing powder!

I need to keep applying powder because I have VERY oily and shiny skin, and since I have a large nose it looks awful if I'm not matte. :P

...Geez, what else could be wrong with me?

Well there are a couple of things with the eyes that you can do, use a concealer top and bottom lids, you could also try a translucent powder to set your makeup. Try Loose powder *not NYC* Revlon, Quo, Loreal, Max factor.
The other thing you can use is an eye primer, it goes like the above before your shadows and lining. Quo, Cover FX, Lise Watier. Also be careful what kind of eye cream or cream shadow you use with your liner, if it is cream and inexpensive it just won't work.
Also have your tried Gel Eyeliner I find that I have the same problems as yourself and they work very well. Lise Waiter has a great one.

Next NYC has some good less expensive items powder is not one of them.
You need something made for your skin type you could ever try Mineral powder it seems to set well for your skin type. You could also try Almay, Marcelle, Physician Formula, Cover Fx the last two have mineral powder has well. Hope some of this helps, let me know.
Welcome to the forums, where in Canada are you from, just wondering I am in Canada as well.

I know exactly how you feel! My eyeshadow would crease within no time, and i got so sad, because my eyehadow would look terrific, but then it would be all creased.
What is working pretty good right now is i use MAC bare canvas paint as a eyeshadow primer. So i put the paint on, then my normal eyeshadow. It keeps it from creasing for about 6hours. I also use mac eyeshadow.

But now that i know that Quo and Lise Watier have primers (thanks judi!) and since i live in canada i will give those a shot too.

Urban Decay Primer Potion is supposed to be a very good eyeshadow primer, you might want to give it a try.
I can't use cream eyeshadows, they always crease on me. I haven't tried cream eyeliners. I agree with Judi, gel eyeliners are great.

try max factor. i use that brand of make-up, and you should try out a powder or something to see if they have your skin tone, and maybe you should also try out their eyeliner..even though i've never tried it. but i have the same problem you do with the whole eyeliner thing and it gets on my nerves. but write back and tell me if you tried the max factor or something.

I don't know if this helps any, but a tip to keeping (powder) eyeshadow on, is put a cream eyeshadow on first (I use a pinky-white one) and then put your eyeshadow ontop, covering the creme. The powder eyeshadow sticks to it, and stays on better, and you can't see the creme underneath.

Try using a base as horse_luver said.
Bare canvas paint works really well and so does MAC's prep and prime eye base.

As for the powder, try going to a make up store(MAC, Lancome, Sephora...ect) and the make-up artists there should be able to match your skin tone and show you what is best for your skin type.

Appling a small amount of concealer above and below eyes helps greatly with keeping eye makeup in place. Also using a slightly damp brush can help.

I also have fair skin. I prefer Prescriptives loose powder in the Magic line or mineral veil by Bare Minerals.

I love Mark. eyeliner by Avon. It says on all day, doesn't smudge or move. It's the best eyeliner I've ever used. You can buy it through Avon US or Canada.
