Wow, that depends on what you want your mascara to do. Are you looking for lengthening? Curling? Volumizing? Waterproof?
I've been a fan of Maybelline Great Lash (the pink & green bottle) for many years, it's just a good all-around basic mascara. Lately though, I've developed an affection for Cover Girl Lash Exact; I love the small rubbery brush, and it gets all of my lashes.
If you want to spend more money, Estee Lauder Magnascopic is a really good volumizing mascara.

Lancome Defincils is a good lengthening mascara.
Our own dear Judi swears by Rimmel; I think she's mentioned Rimmel Lycra Lash Extender.

Yeah, I've noticed that most lines are now recognizing the advantage of the rubber bristle brush.

I love Lash XL by Estee Lauder. It gives my lashes loads of volume and beautiful length.
