I know some men wear mineral makeup for that very reason, to cover up their own skin issues. It's usually quite blendable and covers well without looking overdone.

70% of actors I process are men, and they enjoy sitting in the chair getting pampered. Generally, men don't get pampered in the course of their lives, but when they get a taste for it, some of them can become quite the diva's... others just take it in stride.

I've sat in the make-up chair numerous times myself, and with the right kind of make-up artist, it is a very relaxing experience.

i beg to differ when you say men don't get pampered. i know i am single now but i used to be married 17yrs and had a relationship for 10 years. i pampered too much. gave massages(get mind out of gutter) real massages, fed them well, cut their hair, i was there whenever they wanted me, and they both left me for other women. i don't think men like to be pampered much!!!!!!

Mmmm, interesting. I hang out with a lot of female friends, most of them in relationships, and they don't pamper their significant other as to the extent you used to do. It's just a time management thing with them, being busy and all.

And when I talk with male actors in the chair, they tell me they have a hectic schedule and have no time to go get a massage or get a facial, pedicure, etc. Mind you, some of them get it done because it was a gift from their wife. Then there are the very few male diva actors out there that get it done on a regular basis. However, I also do a lot of corporate male CEO's, Presidents, CFO's, of giant financial corporations, and they do make the time to go get pampered.

The same can be said about women making time to go out and get pampered. I have 4 regular girls that I give foot massages to, they love it, I love it, but then our schedules change, we get busy, then it becomes what's the priority? Getting a 1 -2 hour foot massage? or getting those groceries? picking up kids at daycare? or getting that brazillian? etc.

I guess it comes down to time. Do men have the time, or will they make the time to wear make-up? Most of us guys have one routine already: Shaving our faces. woo hoo

Most men take it for granted that most women have to get made-up every morning before they take on the day.

Anyone else have thoughts on this?

I agree, Vogue. Mike wouldn't take the time to anything more than shower & shave. LOL Anything else would be too girlie in his opinion. He's just that way. But he knows I'll spend half my morning getting ready, doing the whole grooming & make up routine. He may occassionally roll his eyes and say "you're going to be late if you don't hurry up", but he'd never ask me to give up my routine.

Tanya--That is a great post, & I've been waiting for something like this to come along & show guys that its OK to wear makeup! There are so many men who are wearing makeup in europe & asia, & finally its catching on here in the US--its a/b time. I love wearing makeup myself-i use either tinted foundation, or just the right foundation, concealer, mascara, translucent powder, bronzer, lipstick & gloss. Of course I wear it in subtle moderation so it looks "natural" & not feminine. My wife thinks I look great when I make myself up for when we go out at nite. She also loves it when I've done her makeup, or "practiced" on her. There are alot of cosmetic co's that are catering to "mens makeup" now a days, but only online so far that I see. I don't know if I h have the courage to go to a MAC counter to buy some makeup (which I've already done) & have a sales girl do a makeover on me, unless I wanted to pass as a female, or just looking for a thrill at the moment. Hope to talk to you more a/b your husband & his makeup use.

Jonathan

I personally think that makeup was made for women so only women should use it. I would never let my boyfriend wear makeup. I know he wouldnt anyway, his a man & his in to football & stuff not MAKEUP!! lol. I wouldnt go & use his aftershave or something!
