Know Your Skin Tone
Generally, there are two skin tones: warm and cool. Warm - If you’re a warm skin tone, your skin will look peach or golden with green color veins. Your hair could be auburn, golden brown, golden blonde, strawberry blonde or red. You may have green, hazel or brown eyes. Generally if you fall under this skin tone, you’ll be of medium, tan or dark skin. Medium skinned people will have a good deal of color to their skin, falling somewhere in between pale and tan. When you do tan, you tan well and rarely burn. If you have tan skin, you’ll have a good amount of color to your skin. You never burn and your skin will stay tan all year around. If you have dark skin, you’re generally African American and are dark all year around. Cool - If you have a cool skin tone, your skin will look pink or have no one specific tone and you will have blue veins instead of green. Your hair color will probably be ash brown, black, ash blonde or platinum blonde. You will have pale blue, gray, pale green or deep brown eyes. Generally if you fall under this skin tone, your skin will be fair or light in color and you probably burn very easily in the sun. If you’re fair, you usually never tan and if you’re light, you may burn and then tan. Your New Pales If you fall under the warm category, you’ll look best in pale greens like mint, creams, pale yellows, sea blues and pale blues. If you fall under the cool category, you’ll look great in pale purples such as lavender, pale pinks, pale gold, peaches, apricots, whites and pale blues. How to Wear Them If you’re over 30, make sure you use pale in moderation or you’ll end up looking washed out. If you’ve got gray, try a pale apricot or pink lipstick. For the eyes try white with a dark blue or gray eyeliner to make eyes really pop. Another thing to keep in mind is, no matter what skin tone you may be, avoid anything chalky. If you’re going for that new pale nail polish, a quick way to see if it will work for you is to tilt the bottle. If it’s a transparent color, go for it! If it sticks to the bottle and looks like chalk, then you’re better off skipping it. Another great tip is to avoid that streaky look on nails, be sure to apply a clear base coat first before you apply the color. Enjoy! |
